Really anxious and nervous in my last month (LONG)

I don't know why, but now that I'm closing in on my last month I've been really nervous and anxious about something happening to while he is in my belly.

Maybe it was something to do with the fact that all his movements are so distinct to me now that I can really almost imagine what he's doing in there and that he is so strong that he's often pushing out of my skin.

when he was smaller and all I felt were kicks I felt like he was well protected in all that amniotic fluid.

Now I feel like if I fall asleep the wrong way or press my stomach against something too hard, I'll break his little hand or feet or head.

I know this sounds crazy but I feel like every way I move I might hurt him because he's SO BIG and right under my skin. like there is not enough protecting him in my belly.

I freak out if he doesn't move for 1/2 hour and the last few nights have woken up waiting for him to move and stayed awake until he did.

Am I crazy? I almost feel like he'd be safer born and out of me.

Does anyone else feel like this?

i am not there yet, but i can't totally understand why you would feel that way keep in mind that not only is your baby well protected in there, babies are more resilient than we think. i seriously doubt anything you do is going to hurt him.

I feel the same way! It's amazing how much his movement has slowed down because of his size. Every time I get a contraction and my stomach balls up, I get nervous because I can't feel him. I still poke at my belly every now and wait for him to poke back to make sure he's okay in there! The only thing that reassures me are the NSTs I go for every week.

I know what you mean..as a mom that delivered early I freaked out but a part of me was relieved to have her out safe and sound. Dont worry. he will be ok.

I am not as far as long as you are but I think what you are feeling is a natural part of being a loving mother. You are already in love with your little baby and you just want to make sure that you are doing everything you can to protect your baby.

The worst part is that it doesn't stop. Once he's born, and is sleeping and not making noise, you'll want to make sure that he's breathing by poking up, or doing something to make sure he moves.

Ahhh, nerves... the perils of motherhood.

I'm not currently pregnant but like AP said-babies are a lot stronger than you think. Think about how many babies are born each day..also how would the human race have persisted if they were not. I think your hormones may also be giving you anxiety. Maybe you could try meditation or acupuncture?

i understand how you feel! it is so nerve-wracking. i just keep thinking about the colonial women and how they worked in the fields all day and nothing happened to their babies (can you tell i am addicted to the john adams hbo mini series?).

It's just so hard to believe sometimes that you are creating this wonderful little person inside of you and it's your responsibility to protect and nurture them until they come into this world!!

I guess I have a lifetime of worry ahead of me!
