Really dumb bottle question

OK, this whole Bisphenol-A thing is making me crazy trying to figure out what bottles to use. I registered for some Evenflow glass and the Playtex Drop ins but all of my mom friends use Dr. Browns or Avent. Are these truly safe or not?

Now, here's the dumb question. I will strictly be bottle feeding and I have hear that giving the bottles at room temp is fine. Therefore I won't need to heat them up, so does that matter as far as the Bisphenol-A. Or does the sterilization process cause the problem? Please excuse my lack of knowledge on the subject, I just feel so overwhelmed. TIA!

Re: Really dumb bottle question

glass and drop ins are safe

dr. brown's and avents are not on the safe list....

ETS: the powers that be say that the sterilization process can bring out the BPA.... that's why I'm sticking with strictly BPA free bottles...

Re: Really dumb bottle question

Dr. Browns and Avent contain Bisphenol-A. I got some Born Free bottles but, for various reasons, we rarely use them. My DH hates them, esp. compared to Dr. Browns, and he usually fills the bottles.

Even if you decide to feed room temperature bottles, you will keep formula refrigerated, so there will be some process to heat it even if not to a high temp. The only way you would not refrigerate formula is if you are using powder and making one bottle at a a time or if you use ready to feed and only use the individual sized bottles. For breastmilk, you have to refrigerate it if not using it right away.

I am considering trying Drop-Ins now, but I do have to say that after really trying to go Bisphenol-A free, I currently use Dr. Browns.

i tried born free and drop-ins, but they didn't work as well for jonah's gas issues as dr browns. up until now we haven't been too concerned using dr. browns because ds is breastfed and doesn't get too many bottles.

now that i will be returning to work ds will be getting 10-12 bottle feedings a week, which is more concerning. we will probably end up alternating between dr. browns (best) and drop-ins (second best) to minimize the bpa exposure.

Re: Really dumb bottle question

Just wanted to add that Avent makes drop ins. This is what we use!
