really high white blood cell count..update!

i had a hemo appt today..

we went over everything like we normally do

and when they got my cbc back he said my white blood cell count was really high..like 20 k

he asked if i felt ok..i said besides being sore from the retrieval and PIO i feel pretty good

he wanted to speak to Dr.B but i told him he was out of the country so he spoke with sandra

to be honest idk what what they said to one another and when he came back he just said they will repeat my blood when i go in next

why would my count be so high?

also just wanted to add both me and dh just finished taking 1000mg of cipro yesterday after 20 days on it so he was confused as to why it would be so high

update..spoke to nurses and they said it is from the dexamethasone! all is ok

I was going to say an infection but you just finished taking cipro so I'm confused also. Unless its an infection that doesn't respond to cipro....is that possible? I'm hoping it was just an lab error

Are you on neupogen? Sub q injections or a wash ? If yes, your white count would be elevated bc neupogen increases the proliferation of white blood cells. My count has been consistent at 18,000. When I was sick two weeks ago in the hospital, it was 42,700. If not maybe you were coming down with something and the Cipro you were taking hid the symptoms?
