Re: Really need some help from all you smart LIF ladies
my suggestion would be teaching or some type of tutorial position.
Maybe a TA?

Re: Really need some help from all you smart LIF ladies
Thanks!
It';s difficult because my BA is not in teaching. I'm looking into teaching in Catholic Schools.
Does anyone know what the requirements are for a TA?
I applied for NYC Teaching Fellows, but I never went to the itnerview because I don't want to make a 3-5 year commitment

You should look into the requirements for teaching. If you got your masters in Education I *think* you can start teaching after only a few credits.
Ask some teachers for the scoop....

I did the same thing. I didn't even send the application.

All of these programs, TFA, NYC Teaching Fellows, etc require a long term commitment because they pay for your master's degree, and I honestly don't want to make that kind of commitment. if I find a job I like I could stay there for 5 years, but I don't want to make that commitment from day 1

I work in the training dept of a company.
For some reason there are a lot of actors, dancers and artists in this field.
So it's sort of education but adult learning...
Let me know if you have any questions.
ETA: My dept is hiring a few more trainers...its software training....we are growing!

What about Score education centers? I remember they recruited when I was in college. I think working with kids may be your best option if you want flexible hours and a more casual atmosphere.
Teaching probably isn't the best option if you aren't thinking long-term. Catholic schools pay very little.

Training sounds like a good option! What are the requirements for that kind of job?

I thought about Score. I applied and passe dhte phone interview but enver took it further because the hours were very long and pay very low. It seemed like too much focus on money and deadlines and not enbough focus on the children themselves. Something about it really turned me off

College degree...maybe some education type experience. First there is an interview and then you do a demonstration....usually the case for most companies. You can have no experience...but if you are smart, well spoken, quick learners, technically savvy, outgoing, and professional...with a great demo...you have a great shot. I believe they are starting trainers out at like $70k I believe here...
