Really stupid question here..
As you know, I havent gotten my period in about 6 months but it doesnt stop us from trying. I have heard stories of people who have conceived because they are ovulating, just not bleeding. But my question is..how long after bd'ing should I take a test? 2 weeks? I have nothing to go by like the test instructions say..test as early as 5 days before your period..because I dont get it and I obviously dont know when I will..
Should I just test 2 weeks after? Ill be testing all the time!

I'd love to know the answer to this too!! I'm currently on CD 79 and I have the urge to test all the time.

Re: Really stupid question here..
I dont know though how you could ovulate and not have bleeding? Ovulation is preceeded by a progesterone rise, and then fall...when the progesterone falls if NOT PG then the lining of the Uterus is released as it needs progesterone to support it.
The longest cycle I have heard of with someone actually being PG was like 41 days.
I dont want to say its impossible, because Im no experrt at all. I just dont think it is.
I would speak to your Dr about the possibility of ovulating and no AF and see what they think before wasting money on PG tests and feeling that dissapointment of a BFN.
GOOD luck to you both though

Yea I thought it was pretty far fetched too but apparently my doctor says it happens. I am just clinging on to any type of hope right now.

Re: Really stupid question here..
My doctor told me something different. If you ovulate, you bleed (if not PG). But you can also bleed and not have ovulated (called anovulatory bleeding). I went almost 8 months with out a period, but did get AF after taking Provera. Then I did get PG, and if I hadn't, the doc believes my period was starting to come back on its own.

Re: Really stupid question here..
A very good friend of mine, ovulated, no bleeding, and she became pregnant! Her doctor says its not impossible, but it is Unusual. She just did not feel right, so took a test...and was PG...she had her little boy in April

My doctor told me the same things that you can indeed ovulate and not bleed. I know where you're coming from.good Luck!

Ok..good, I am not the only one who has heard of this before. I am hoping we are one of the ones that it happens to although something makes me doubt it

Re: Really stupid question here..
My sister -in- law has a very irregular period, gets it maybe once a year and she is currently pregnant two doctors told her she would not be able to carry a baby and low and behold she is living proof of being pregnant with a very irregular period. So there is a very good chance that you can get pregnant without bleeding.

Re: Really stupid question here..
I found this online..maybe it will help..
"There is a condition called "corpus luteum cyst" this is when you ovulate and the corpus luteum that remains in the ovary becomes a cyst. It would prevent a period from occuring or cause it to become delayed past the normal 12-16 days (it is not normal, nor is it 'usual'). If you ovulate you will have a period in 99.9% of cases unless you are pregnant. If you are indeed ovulating and not experiencing a period (and are not pregnant)the egg is becoming just another cyst. "
