REALLY WORRIED! WWYD??

Here's the basic story.

Last night my DH and nephew went to pick up frozen yogurt. As they stepped into the crosswalk to walk toward the place, a car revved its engine as if it wasn't going to stop to let them cross (keep in mind we are in San Diego where anyone and everyone crosses the street without looking because cars here stop for pedestrians all the time). DH stopped in his place (which was already into the crosswalk) and gave the guy "a look like VVTF?" [according to DH]

The guy continued to rev his engine and stopped and began to yell at DH. They got into a verbal altercation....

On the way home, DH noticed that the guy was following him. He drove around a little until he thought it was okay, then went and parked in our apartment garage (not attached, it's a big garage for all cars in the apartments).

Now, I didn't know that any of that happened.

This morning I went out to my car (parked next to DH's - assigned spots) and this note was taped (face down) to DH's windshield.

External Image

I'm like HUH? I go to DH and show him and he says he doesn't know what it's about... and crumples it up. This of course makes me suspicious because I felt like he obviously knew there was something to it. I google TST13 and see that it's a gang.

I call DH (now I'm on my way to work) and tell him that TST13 is a gang and ask if there's anything he'd like to tell me... and he explains the above story about the previous night.

WWYD?

I told him to call the cops because I'm honestly REALLY worried! DH is a SAHD and is with our son all day... they are out and about in the neighborhood, and they always go to pick up my nephew after school. I'm scared that someone is going to be waiting for him in our garage (which is a LOCKED garage... need key to enter or garage remote) or try to do something to him while he's in the car alone or with the baby. DH has custom license plates that are really easy to remember (a word + a number).

Call the cops and tell them the story and read them the note. That is very, very scary. You have a young son and a family to think about

Re: REALLY WORRIED! WWYD??

I'd go to the police with this, but then again, not sure what they could do about it.
Kind of scary that they were able to enter the locked garage. Is there by any chance a security camera where you could get info about the car, the plate number, pictures of the idiots ?

Sometimes it's just not worth it to get into altercations with others. People are just freakin crazy.

Re: REALLY WORRIED! WWYD??

Call the police. Immediately.

I would even go the extra step of changing the license plate.

Why even take the chance?

And can your DH park in a different section of the parking garage? Or is it assigned spaces?

Re: REALLY WORRIED! WWYD??

Thanks everyone... Ugh, I'm just sick to my stomach over this!

To respond to some of the posts...

DH is calling the cops. He tried once this morning (it's before 8am here) and couldn't get anyone on the phone.

He's going to call the on-site security and see what (if anything) they can do.

There are no cameras in the garage, but there is a security person that walks around the outside parking and underground parking (where we are parked). But it's only one person and there are many many places she needs to patrol.

There are assigned spaces so we can't park anywhere else.... which is why I think it doesn't make sense to get a new plate since the person already knows our garage, our space, and DH's car.... Chat Icon

Re: REALLY WORRIED! WWYD??

Yes, I think this would freak me out as well. I would also call the police.

Just a thought, do you think these people just get off on scaring people? The note that was left on the car is printed on a computer. Who drives around with pre-printed notes with their gang name on it? I highly doubt that they went home to print out a copy, KWIM?

So that makes me think that they have these notes already printed in their car and when they come across someone they want to scare, they take one out and use it.

At least that is my way of trying to think of the situation in the least scary way possible. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I agree with the above posters...

My one question is this though..

And it might put your mind at ease a bit or it may not...

What do they do? Make up a stack of those notes and have them handy for just such an altercation?Chat Icon

It's not a hand written note and they had tape?

IDK!

In my mind... this guy and his friends waited for DH to come back out to the car, but he never did - so they went home (which could be nearby) and printed out this note and brought it and taped it to the car???
