I think these guys probably have printouts in the car and get off scaring people.
What does concern me is, how did they get into a locked garage!?

I think you did the right thing by going to the police - I would talk to the security in your complex as well so everyone is in the know and will call police if they see anything suspicious - I'm sure everything will be fine

In my mind... this guy and his friends waited for DH to come back out to the car, but he never did - so they went home (which could be nearby) and printed out this note and brought it and taped it to the car???
I think the note meant to say "Came back" not "Come back" (as in "I came back and you're still not here). Obviously they left and came back with the note.
Regardless, calling the police immediately was the right thing to do.

crazy and scary! I would definitely ask for a different spot. new license plates and mace are great ideas too.
could DH leave his car at your job or something until this blows over?
part of me thinks it's just kids too...although I know little about gangs - do gangs annouce themselves like that?

its not worth taking a chance.
i would be crazy and probably get a new license plate too. 
yeah, i think that would be enough to make me to go to the dmv and switch my plates too

Wow - that is scary. My old position dealt with gangs and in the years that I dealt with gangs, I never saw any incidents where they left a type written note. Just very weird. I would call the police but at thsi point there is not much they can do. I would follow the advice of the people here - tell your apartment building, keep your eyes open, keep mace.
