Realtor cancelling Open Houses because it's too hot!
Really? Seriously? Do realtors actually do this? My IL's are only allowed to get one open house a month according to their realtor (Lisa Jaeger Team) and now this month she cancels their open house for tomorrow because of the weather being too hot. Are you serious?! She would never make it down south. IDK, just never heard of that excuse. Also, she said she cancelled all open houses due to weather and r/s for next weekend. They have AC. Just makes me shake my head yet again with this team. They have made it clear to them they are at the bottom of their 'work' list because their list price is not below market value. I mean they are already moved out of the house and can leave tomorrow. sorry, just venting...

Re: Realtor cancelling Open Houses because it's too hot!
wow
first as a Realtor I have done open houses in bad weather- in Bank owned houses with no heat, electric and water
I am shocked since I know of her and her "team"
maybe it's time to find a new realtor!

Re: Realtor cancelling Open Houses because it's too hot!
Jteach, I may need your DH's info Beth, I honestly can't figure her or her team out. Apparently Lisa 'sold' herself to them with all these promises and now almost with a contract ending, nothing. Hardly any effort. Cancellations, still haven't changed pictures on MLS (she took horrible pictures), harsh emails, just not very professional. I'm sad for my IL's because they so want to leave and be here with their grandgirls. she has flat out told them they are on the bottom of her list becuase they are not below market value. I mean come on. They need a certain amount to live off of. Selden house listed at 317K They would leave with $299. bottom line. I think that is fair for their house.
Am I out of line thinking this is out of character?

Re: Realtor cancelling Open Houses because it's too hot!
Wow, that is just ridiculous!!! Our house has been on the market for 2 months and we have basically had an open house every weekend at least one day of it. We did not have them on Holiday weekends that was the only time-- mother's day, father's day etc...

honestly open houses aren't everything- but if you aren't happy with the level of service and attention I would move on
there are plenty of other great real estate agents out there that would be happy to provide them with better service
if you have any more questions FM me-

Re: Realtor cancelling Open Houses because it's too hot!
I have more of an issue with the horrible pics, not changing them and rude emails
that is unacceptable!
obviously she doesn't care-

I know I keep hearing that open houses don't sell a house, but... living down South that is where 99% of realtors seal the deal. It's very different here so I take that into consideration. they have had 2 interests and both came from open houses. Since the pictures are pretty bad, I find it essential to have open houses.

When I was looking for a house I called her to see one of her listings. She was SUPER rude and I never got to see the house and it was on the market for 2 years after that.

She keeps telling them that they are at the bottom of her list.
Clear to me that she should be the last realtor your in laws use. They need to fire her.

Re: Realtor cancelling Open Houses because it's too hot!
I think I know who you are talking about ! She made an appointment for a couple to see my co-op , but I had a huge leak in my bathroom that had to be fixed, so I cancelled the appointment ,and she still showed up ! I walked into the hallway before she could come into my place, but she kept trying to walk passed me . We pretty much got into a huuuuuuuge argument in front of the couple ,and she embaressed the crapp out of me !

I saw the house on her site, and TBH I think they'll be lucky to get an offer of $300,000.

Re: Realtor cancelling Open Houses because it's too hot!
I work in a RE office (not an agent). We had tons of open houses this weekend, so no, that doesn't sound right to me. Maybe it's time for them to be looking into a different realtor?

I agree with you that the agent has an issue.
If your IL would not follow my guild lines and suggestions I would release them from their contract.
NOt to be direct and I know how frustrated you must be, and I agree that she is not acting professional, but it is the market that determines the price, not your IL or "what you think is a fair price"
52 Open Houses will not sell a house that is not price compelling in this market.
When their contract is up find a Realtor who will educate your IL and not sell them with fake promises.
Good Luck. Honesty sometimes hurts, but only hurts once.

- No open house for hot weather? That's BS. Strike 1 - rude emails: strike 2 - She said out loud that the house was a the bottom of her list????? Seriously? Strike 3
She needs to be fired. It is obvious she has no interest in selling the house. Waste of time for your IL BIG TIME!!!

Re: Realtor cancelling Open Houses because it's too hot!
I absolutely agree she needs to be fired. their first realtor was fired and he was a family friend so I don't get this. They are not the type of people to push or ask questions, that is what we are all for. It is frustrating. While I think the house most certainly can sell for no less than 299, it's a matter of time as to when that will happen. If they needed to get out faster it would of been priced at 289 and they would be done, however they want to leave not need to. That's the difference. The pictures don't even show their 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom, 2 fireplace, Large EIK,Large diningroom, livingroom, full finished basement with 1 bedroom, 1bath, kitchen, livingroom, workshop and 2 car garage. Not to mention on one of the largest lots in the area. My issue is the broken promises and just being down right rude. I know it's not all the agent, it's mostly market and the sellers as well. But to cancel, be rude and not call back is really frustrating.
I passed along everyone's information. Thank you! I really appreciate it. I hope to stop venting about this house real soon!
