Rec an OB, please (Western Suffolk)
Hi, new to this board and have a brand new BFP!!! 
So, I need to find a doctor, but i have a long list of musts lol. The thing is that I am PETRIFIED of doctors.
So the first thing is that the dr. has to be really nice, calming and approachable. The entire staff being that way would be great lol
I would also prefer a woman, but I guess most OBs are men??
Also, I am overweight (though i have lost weight!) so I need someone who won't give me too much gruff about that.
Late or weekend hours would be good too, since I"ll hopefully have a full time job soon.
I am in Huntington Station, do I'd prefer someone around here not too far away, if that isn't too much to ask. 
And is it odd to take DH with me to the first appt.? I'd like him at every one, but i am guessing that would look too odd??
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Congrats and Welcome
I live S. Huntington, but I travel to Garden City for my OB because I just love him to death. He is everything you described and then some.
He delivers at Winthrop and that is the main reason I picked him as well since I wanted to deliver there.

I don't know if Bethpage is too far for you but I love my OB/GYN. (I am also overweight and while he suggests me losing weight he never gives me a hard time about it) He is a HE but there are 2 female NP in the office that are also amazing. They have great hours and I can always get in last minute. His name is Dr Paymen Zandieh.

I go to Dr. Scanlon with North Shore Medical Group in Huntington. I love him! He's extremely personable and thorough.
ETA: I went to a woman for years and was nervous to make the switch, but I like him sooo much better than the female doc I used to see. She's so quick and very, well, rough.

I see Dr. Lustberg on 25A in Huntington. I have found him as well as the nurses/staff to be fantastic. He is definitely approachable and calming, because he explains everything to you. He also returns calls quickly if you have questions/concerns. I have never felt rushed at all. They also run on time with all my appointments. I have rarely had to wait!

I use Dr. Wagner and Dr. Goldman of WGM. They are both male but so sweet and attentive. They really put you at ease! They have 2 offices, one on 25A in Huntington and one on Pulaski in East Northport. They have late evening hours too. I would suggest making an appt with Dr. Goldman first, he might be the best fit for you

I am in S. Huntington and I HIGHLY rec my OB. He is is E Islip and it only takes about 20 mins to get to him.

He is a wonderful, caring, friendly doctor.The entire staff is great and they all work nice together. He does have late evening hours too. There is nothing wrong at all if you bring your DH with you. My DH came to almost all my appts. Actually I think Dr. Trivedi liked my DH more than he liked me towards the end.

My OB is in North Babylon. Her name is Dr. Aimee Leo, she is very approachable and very sweet (she is young also, which makes me feel more comfortable talking to her). She is in practice with her father, Dr. Sal Leo who is a very nice man and very knowledgable. They both deliver at Good Sam.
Don't feel weird about bringing your DH, I brought mine to tons of appts.

I used to use Dr. Elise Singer of Huntington Medical Group (and still would but we moved). I've also seen Dr. Cote of the same practice and the NP (Pat) there is AMAZING!!!

i LOVE LOVE LOVE them both!!!! I primarily saw Dr. Wagner, but they were both there on the day I was in labor and Dr. Goldman delivered DD- which was a tough one and he was so great.
I am heavy, too and Dr. Wagner was great with me. Don't worry about that....
They have evening hours too which is great. I never missed a day of work for an OB or sono appt. (They do the sonos in their office.
I have also heard good things about Dr. Scanlon as well.

I don't have a rec for you, but I just wanted to let you know that it's perfectly normal for your DH to go to your first appt. My DH is coming to mine. This is an exciting time for them too!

Late to this thread but I also used Dr. Dilena - he just recently delivered my DD. There is no one more calm and laid back than him. I also was overweight...he never once commented on my weight...not once.
Also...all my appts were always late at night...he has late hours on Tues and Thurs...my appts were either at 7:30 or 8pm. He's THE best! I promise!
