capital grille is sooo good! when to the oen in chicago a few years ago. The steak was great and i vividly remember the lobster mac n cheese 
i've been to rothmann's, morton's and burton and doyle....my fave used to be rothmann's but last time i went i didn't love the steak - it was too seared on the outside and too well done. Based on that i would say Morton's!!!!

I have not been to a lot, but I have been to both Prime and tellers. They were both good, but Tellers was better.

I think it's in Nassau - but Blackstone. Just went last week and the food was amazing. There were 4 of us. We had two salads to split, 2 sushi rolls to share, the porterhouse for 3, creamed spinach, lobster mac and cheese, and mushrooms. And dessert. And a bottle of wine. It was a really great dining experience. Great service. I would recommend and if it weren't so dang expensive, I'd go back soon and often!

Morton's is DH's favorite
Prime has been hit or miss for us. Sometimes amazing, sometimes 'eh' -
I thnk the fish @ Blackstone was great, but I wasn't at all impressed with the steak.
We recently went to Capital Grill and it was very good.
I'm not a Peter Luger's fan at all - but that's b/c I don't like the atmosphere there, or the way the steaks are prepared.
The Palm is my favorite - but there isn't on on LI
I think if it's a special birthday celebration - I'd go food and atmosphere - Morton's, Prime, Capital Grill
