Looking for a place to stay with my husband and daughters in August.

Well, there's Montauk Manor, which is beautiful. It is not ON or close to the beach though. I never minded that but it's a personal preference thing.

If you want to be "on or close" to the beach there are a few others to suggest... The first one that comes to mind is Gurney's because it is on the ocean and they have a fabulous indoor pool that kids just love.

We also stayed at The Beach Plum. That is nice because each unit is a little different (they are timeshared and rented) and the units have balconies or verandas and a kitchenette! But what's nice is that they have full maid service like a hotel. Best of both worlds. We loved the fact that since now we have a son, we could bring tons of food and make breakfast/lunch in the room.

Those are the places I have actually stayed. I loved all of them.

ETA - we are there in August - that's when we go, each year, we do timeshare and it's always "week 31", which is the first week in August

Rec Montauk Family Friendly Hotel

Atlantic Terrace looks decent, rooms look updated. It's on the beach. Driftwood looks nice too with renovated rooms. Most of the motels in Montauk look skeevy, so make sure you read TA reviews!

Montauk yacht club. You can get a bungalow and be right on the beach
