Ours crapped out. We are getting a replacement and I hated the side by side by side. We are thinking of going with freezer on bottom and no ice maker. It was nice having the water and ice but such a pain. Ice maker always breaking...

What kind do you have ad do you like it?

I have an older one but my repair dude said it was a great model and will last very long (it was a simple repair for the ice maker). It's a kenmore. So I guess I would recc kenmore maybe.

I hear Samsung is kind of all bells and whistles and not that great in the long run

Def do your research (I know you will!) because u will hopefully have it for a long time ! :)

Well I know I am staying away from GE, this one is 3 yrs old and has had to have 8 service repairs. Thankfully we bought an extended warranty through PC Richards but I will never buy GE appliances ever again. I heard the same thing about Samsung...

We had a GE that also had ice maker problems when it was only a few years old.
We bought a fridgidaire gallery side by side last year and I love it because it's bigger inside. Somehow without being bigger on the outside the inside is much deeper so I can fit trays of food when I have parties.
I decided we needed ice on the door and I don't like bottom freezers.
We bought it at pc Richard also.

When our side by side broke we got the traditional freezer on top and there was an ice maker inside to the left but it didn't come out of the door you had to open freezer to get ice, fridge was perfect and so much space! Now we moved and are back to a side by side lol

We have the freezer on the bottom with an ice maker and our only complaint is that the ice falls out onto the floor when you open the freezer door sometimes.
Our kitchen isn't big enough for a side by side, and with three LOs having the fridge on top has helped us with babyproofing.

We have a french door LG dridge. No water, but an ice maker in the bottom (which we haven't hooked up yet b/c we don't really ever use ice).

I like it - plenty of room in the fridge. We got it on sale at Best Buy.

We have a Samsung FD with freezer on the bottom and love it. We specifically bought one that did not have ice/water on the door as that seems to be the part that breaks the most. It is so quiet and keeps veggies fresh for a long time.

Re: Reccomend your fridge

I have GE Profile (I know you said no GE) french door...6 years old never had an issue.

I actually have all GE appliances. The microwave stunk, but everything else is great.

Re: Reccomend your fridge

I have a Samsung and their customer svc is awesome. My DH broke the water line while moving the fridge. We called, they sent someone. It took longer than 2 weeks for the part so they called and told us we were getting a credit for the current price of the fridge($1000 more than we paid during a sale) No issues at all with the fridge. I have the side by side with freezer on the bottom and ice and water
