Recent new mommies
They are estimating my son to be born in the 8 lb range. Should I go with Carters NB or 3 if I get a Carters coming home outfit?
I seem to remember with my DD they always seem to run big - she was born 7 lbs 8 oz and was in Carters NB for a while.

Re: Recent new mommies
My DS was estimated at 7lbs 12 oz three days before he came out at 8lbs 11oz!
He was able to wear most newborn stuff until 4 weeks.

Re: Recent new mommies
I agree, get the Newborn. DD was 7 lbs 8 ounces and was in Newborn for at least a month, the 0-3 stuff was huge at first.

Re: Recent new mommies
my first 2 were 8 lbs 7 ozs. Newborns fit perfect! They outgrew them by a week or 2 old. My third was 9 lbs and she wore a 3 month outfit home. Its hard to say what will fit your baby. I would bring a 1 outfit that is newborn and one that is 0-3!

Re: Recent new mommies
I say newborn. Rylan was 7-6 at birth and 8-10 at 3 weeks. He's almost 7 weeks now and can still wear newborn...not for much longer though.

DS was still wearing newborn up until about 10 lbs. Definitely go with newborn.

Re: Recent new mommies
My DS was born 9lb 14oz and 21". He fit into Carters NB and it has just gotten snug on him. I think they tend to run big. However, I would buy 0-3 months. I had the NB stuff and get much more use out of the 3 month size.

Re: Recent new mommies
Steven was 9 lb 10 oz and NB JUST fit him. I say if you don't plan on using the coming home outfit again and you want it to fit nicely, then go with the NB

Re: Recent new mommies
If you are looking to stock up I would say get 0-3, but for a coming home outfit I would get a newborn size. DD was 20 inches and 9 lbs 4 ozs and the 0-3 was huge on her when she came home - she had some newborn stuff that she was able to wear for about 2-3 weeks.

My son was born 7-2 and was able to wear NB for around 4 weeks after that. I would go with NB.

Re: Recent new mommies
DS was 22.5 inches and 8.15 pounds at birth, and the 0-3 month outfit we brought with us for coming home swam on him!
I would bring a newborn outfit to the hospital, and have a few on hand. As a pp said, you can always take them back. But get more of the 3 month outfits.

Re: Recent new mommies
DS was born at 9lbs even and fit in to newborn until about 5-6 weeks. I am just starting Carters 3 months and they are still a little big.

Same - Ryan was 7lb8oz and was in NB til very recently. I had to go out and by a bunch of outfits b/c I didn't realize he'd be wearing them so long (nor did I realize how many he would ruin with poo!)

Re: Recent new mommies
7 lbs 14 oz. At 4 weeks she can still wear NB pants, but grew out of the NB onesies and sleep n plays last week. The 0-3 was not too huge, though, right from the start. Go with NB for the going home outfit, 0-3 for the other stuff.
