Recommend a "different" type of restaurant
My Dh and I like to try different types of ethnic foods. Can anyone recommend a good restaurant out of the norm....not like Italian or Chinese or Spanish.....but something different. Hope that makes sense. TIA Anywhere on LI is fine.

We love Sage Bistro in Bellmore. It's a really small place, but the food is excellent!!! Oh it's French, get the lamb chops, best I ever had!

Rangmahal in Hicksville has really good indian food as well as The Curry Club in Stony brook. Aji 53 in Bay Shore has awesome sushi and Japanese. Thai Gourmet in Miller place is also good but bring cash, they don't accept credit/debit cards.

Re: Recommend a "different" type of restaurant
Thai food is my absolute favorite food. There is a little hole-in-the-wall Thai place in Huntington village (next to NYSC). It's super cheap and they have great food.
We also like Hibachi. There are 2 good Hibachi places in Huntington village too. Yum!

Akbar by Roosevelt Field Mall has the best Indian Food on LI. I would also recommend Moroccan food, but you would have to go to NYC for it.

Akbar was my fav Indian Restuarant when i lived on LI. Now I found some new ones in the city. Def worth trying!!!!
For french you could try Chez Noelle in Port Washington.

Another vote for Aji - they just have fantastic food.
Another restaurant to try might be IN SEASON in Islip. It's not 'ethnic' food but it is 'different' in that they use fresh seasonal and often local ingredients so the menu changes by season. Check Them Out Here

Re: Recommend a "different" type of restaurant
My sister and I recently went to Aziberjan in Garden City, the food is slightly Turkish, slightly central asian. The price was great and the portions were HUGE!! We liked it a lot!

Re: Recommend a "different" type of restaurant
You should try an Ethiopian Place - not sure of the names of any on LI, the one I went to was in NYC. DH liked it, I wasn't a fan of some of the dishes, but it was a fun experience!

The 5th Season in Port Jefferson. (it is a seasonal menu with local products used)
Tango Argentina in Central Islip. (Delicious food, with large portions, also they do tango lessons on some nights!)
