Recommend a good, not too expensive mattress please!
My mom would like to buy a new mattress. She has had her current mattress for 15+ years and has a lot of body pain - I've been telling her for a while to buy a new mattress and she finally agrees.
She doesn't want to spend TOO much money, but didn't give me a budget. She wants me to help her find a good mattress at a good deal.
I figure with 4th of July around the corner, that would be a good time to buy.
I bought my King mattress from Sleepy's about 2 years ago and it's great, but sometimes I wonder if we should have just gotten the Tempurpedic (same price). And I've been wondering if we paid too much, lol.
So, please recommend a good (not too expensive) mattress. Sleep Number? Tempurpedic? Sealy Posturepedic? With or without pillow top???? From Sleepy's? Macy's? Bob's? Other?
She currently has a King size and wants to downsize to a Queen. Thanks in advance!!!!!!

I'm looking for the same thing, but haven't had much time to look hard core. All I can really say is that I was not at all impressed with Bob's. Extremely pushy and rude salesperson aside, the quality was terrible for the price in the mattress department.

Re: Recommend a good, not too expensive mattress please!
see if she can buy a floor sample!
Our budget for a queen was approx $1k. We got a tempurpedic floor sample (retails for $2400) we're soooo happy with that bed!
our runner up was the W hotel bed. That I believe is something like $1200?
oh, beware of sleepy's... super-bad BBB rating we went to 1-800 mattress.

Try checking out Sleepy's. They have a HUGE selection and will most likely have really good sales during 4th of July weekend.
They also have this machine there (for a specific brand that they carry) that tells you what kind of mattress (that that brand makes) you need according to how you sleep and your needs. We used it when we went looking and then we just compared the way the mattress for that brand felt with other brands with a similar feeling (this brand with the machine is expensive).

If you don't know about the product and unaware how much it will cost, Sleepy's will take your money, quick!
I recommend Novaform form bed. So I can't afford as temperpedic but for a quarter of the cost, this form mattress is pretty nice. We got it at costco for about 500 bucks.
Soon as we got this mattress..my wife's back pains were gone....of course, any new mattress with proper support would do this but this bed is both firm but plush.

Interesting - we LOVE Costco!!!
Yeah, we had a good experience at Sleepy's too, but I've always felt they robbed us, lol. We're still paying off our mattress (we got 3 years with no payments, no interest, which was a HUGE plus for us at the time because we were just getting married, moving in together, and furnishing an ENTIRE apartment from nothing).
I will check this one out!
Any other suggestions?
Kara for Bob's - did you check out their Bob-O-Pedic? Their other mattresses seemed overpriced when we were shopping, but I think the Bob O Pedic is like 1/2 the cost of Tempurpedic so I thought that might be a good alternative.

DH and I bought the Bob-O-Pedic and we LOVE LOVE LOVE it! not a bad price in comparison to the others and it is sooo comfortable. We had a very good experience (nice salesperson, not pushy, etc.) at the Bob's in Freeport last year.

DH and I LOVE our Tempurpedic mattress. We got the Celebrity style.
To us, a mattress is something very important to us. If we wake up all achy and tired from a cheap mattress, it isn't worth saving the money.

Yes, I was also going to suggest Costco.
I know several people who purchased mattresses from them - great quality, name brands, and good prices.
HTH!

Re: Recommend a good, not too expensive mattress please!
I personally believe that you should always invest in a good mattress....
With that said DH and I spent 1700 bucks on the Waldorf Astoria pillowtop mattress. It was actually reduced from 2400 bucks.
He was reluctant to shell out THAT much money on a mattress but now he thanks me! It is literally the best sleep I have ever gotten. I LOVE it and highly recommend it!

Re: Recommend a good, not too expensive mattress please!
We just recently bought 2 new mattresses, one for our bedroom and one for the guest room. 1800 Mattress was having a sale on the Tempurpedic, so we got one for our room and then a Sealy Plush - Firm for the guest room, both in King size for around 3400. We have slept on both mattresses and love them both. If you go for the Tempurpedic I recommend going for the thinner ones which happen to be cheaper, when they start adding too many layers of the foam it loses the "sink in" quality. HTH
