Recommend your drug store skin care favorites
I'm 36 and have yet to use anti-aging products which I know is a mistake so I need to get on that but it's intimidating. There are just too many. How do you choose? I'm reading reviews that don't help either b/c there are always a mix of positive and neg

Re: Recommend your drug store skin care favorites
This is what I use, but it doesn't mean crap if you don't know what my skin looks like and for all I know everybody thinks I'm older than I really am!
ALPHA HYDROX: Foaming Face Wash - non-drying, so can be used morning and night, but I just use it in the morning with my Clarisonic because I use Neutrogena Make-Up Remover Wipes at night. Oil Free 10% Glycolic Treatment - I use this under my Neutrogena moisturizer in the morning (I don't know if I would recommend my moisturizer. I use it for the SPF. Retinol ResQ - at night, but this can be difficult to find in stores, so I order it from online. I also use this on my chest and shoulders.
I also use Noxzema Triple Clean face wash during my morning showers with a loofah sponge on my face prior to anything else (shampoo, conditioner, etc.).
As for how do I decide on products, well I used to use the Alpha Hydrox line 15+ years ago and loved it back then. I stumbled upon it a few years back and been using it ever since. And I do heavily research things before and after I buy them. I use MakeUpAlley.com and other sites that offer reviews. If there's a good percentage of postive reviews (75%+), then I'll give it a shot.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream
It's a retinol product I use at night (it has no SPF so it's not suitable for daytime). It's EXCELLENT and costs less than half of what I've paid for higher-end retinol products.

Re: Recommend your drug store skin care favorites
I am a fan of Lumene products- off the top of my head I forget the name of the night cream I use- it is in a navy jar with an orange lid. I used their cleansers too, which are nice. When CVS has sales you can get a good price.
I also find that most Olay products and most Neutrogena products are good.
Also, Avon isn't really drugstore but they have nice products, and again, when they have deals you can get good prices. I like their Anew resurfacing peel- it's like those pads we used as teens for breakouts but they have an anti-aging product on them.
I'm a product junkie and totally disloyal so I will probably try some of the things shared by the PPs. I love trying new things.

100% Alpha Hydrox products! I also use the 10% glycolic oil free cream. Check out their reviews on Drugstore.com and Makeup Alley. They are reasonably priced and really work!

Re: Recommend your drug store skin care favorites
I use Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and Cetaphil Facial Moisturizer for the past 2 months and its great. I am in my mid thirties and was using Neutrogena Make Up remover, daily cleanser and I noticed it dried out my face, but the Cetaphil gives me a clean, natural, healthy look.

Re: Recommend your drug store skin care favorites
My skin started breaking out for no reason last summer , so my dermatologist gave me list of products to use and how to use them. Johnsons clean and clear continuous control cleanser in the morning only . Then Olay regenerist lotionat least SPF 15. At night Purpose gentle cleanser, then the prescription she gave me and then Olay beauty fluid/lotion. I started using all these products - well I have been using Olay regenerist lotion for a long time now and I love it - and my skin started looking better within couple of weeks . I actually only used the prescription for 2 weeks and stopped, haven't needed it since. The only thing is that the dr said to switch products once a year or so bc your skin gets used to the stuff you use on regular basis ( my old dermatologist told me the same thing) Last week I decided to switch I ordered few Alpha hydrox products from Ulta : a face wash, a 10% lotion and a daytime lotion SPF 15. waiting to get them , but I hear great things and read really good reviews.

Re: Recommend your drug store skin care favorites
I have extremely sensitive skin. It has gotten much worse over the past couple of years. There is a preservative in most moisturizers, shampoos & conditioners that I am allergic to, so what I can safely use is very limited.
The products that currently work for me are: Cetaphil face wash Cetaphil body wash Dove sensitive skin bar soap CeraVe facial moisturizer AM only Aveeno Daily moisturizing lotion Aveeno Intense relief hand cream Blistex Deep Renewal lip balm Neutrogena clean shampoo Dove Damage Therapy deep repairing mask
For severe dry skin on my face, I use Triple Cream (not paste). It's for severely dry skin/eczema on babies. It works great around my eyes.
I am still trying to find makeup that works well with my skin. I can't wear mascara, most eyeliners irritate, and I have yet to find a good concealer that covers well and lasts all day.

I love Neutragina healthy Skin Face Lotion Multi-Vitamin with Alpha Hydroxy and SPF 15. I have been using it for years! My skin is normal to dry and gets really dry in the winter.
