Recommend your Homeowners Insurance/ Agent
LIers- Can you please recommend your Homeowners Insurance and who you deal with. We're shopping now and I don't even know where to start. If possible, can you please include what you pay annually?

ETA- We're looking in the Massapequa area, above sunrise.

We use Chris Damico, out of Statefarm in Oakdale. We are covered for 350,000 or 400,000 (dont remember) and its around 1300 a month. No flood zone area, ranch.

I can highly recommend our agent. I've used Friedman & Friedman for years - first for my business and rental insurance when I lived in NYC and later for our auto, homeowners and umbrella insurance now that we're out in Suffolk.
They have always been immediately responsive, pro-active in recommending changes that are beneficial, and they take care of everything - no hassles dealing with an annoymous customer service person. They have us with Travelers right now.
Tanya recently contacted us and recommended a change to our policy that gave us better coverage and saved us over $200 a year (keeping our deductible the same). I just got a letter from Travelers about the change in our policy (a little hickup in the transition on their part) so I e-mailed Tanya and had a response within half an hour that she took care of it and it was all settled. That's the kind of service I love!!!

My broker is Alec @ Lighthouse Insurance in Wantagh - 516-541-9600. they're on the corner of Merrick Road & Wantagh Avenue. He's my mom's broker too.
