Recommend your house phone
DH and I need to get a new house phone. Preferably something wireless and does not have an obnoxious ring.

Re: Recommend your house phone
We have a Panasonic cordless phone. It has several ring tones to choose from. We got it from PC Richard.

Re: Recommend your house phone
Panasonic's DECT phones. (DECT is a standard, but I like Panasonic's particular line)
http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Phones-Fax/Telephones/DECT-6-0-Phones.list.75070_11002_7000000000000005702
I have several phones throughout the house. I don't need phone cords everywhere, just plug in the charging station (it comes with one per phone). The phones communicate with each other, so if you view the "missed calls" list, all of the other phones also stop displaying "missed calls". A phone number added to the phonebook is updated on all phones. You can have distinctive rings for particular callers. One of the best things is you can block phone numbers from even ringing the phone.... I kept getting calls from a call center, but they would never leave a message. I blocked them, and now I never have to hear the phone ring when they call. The cordless handsets have speaker phones, which is unusual for cordless phones.
You can always start with one or two handsets, and add onto the system (up to 6 I believe) as you need. You can program a timer on the bedroom (or any) phone to not ring during certain times, but the other phones still can.

Re: Recommend your house phone
great post! i need to know too.
here's the question... say you are on the phone and a call comes in, i want caller id on a call on "call waiting"
is there any phone out there that will show me who is on the other line, while i am on the phone?
the only way i have ever known is by my TV.. (cable shows you the incoming call on the tv)

Re: Recommend your house phone
I just got the Panasonic DECT phones. Great phones.
Just don't buy any garbage from VTEC. I had a set of phones from them, and they died after I had the power momentarially go out in my house. I called them up asking them to be fixed/replaced and they wanted nothing to do with me.
