Recommend your laptop
Anyone have a laptop they love or hate ?
Something I can do school work on as well as get internet access.
Anyone have pros or cons to the more compact ones ?
Any come in cool colors  im in a pink mood right now 
Hubby's buyin so money is no object but im thinknig no more than $500. Since i can be careless and drop, forget and break things   (oh, the kids did it, yeah, thats right  )

i have an IBM thinkpad and love it. People either love or hate Macs, but I have a Mac, Dell, and IBM through work, and the Mac is my least favorite.
I'm pretty sure the thinkpad is over $500, but it's worth it!

I am a Compaq girl, I am on my third one now. All 3 are presario models. This one is a 8710p, but it is big, heavy, but can take a beating! Since I am out and about all day, it's a bit cumbersome to get out of my bage, but they have a smaller, more lightweight version as well.

MacBook Pro and I highly recommend it... Once you go Mac you'll never want to go PC again.

I have a Vaio. It's pretty but I don't think it's as stable as my last one which was a Dell. Dell is less $$ too.

I have the apple ibook laptop... it's about 6 yrs old but still works perfectly. It's the older version of the macbook I think.
ETA: more than $500, but definitely worth it!

I had a bunch of Dells. Their customer service was great, but their computers only had about a 2 year shelf life.
We recently got an HP. Its Ok. We had a problem with it overheating, and it took them nearly 3 weeks to repair it.
DH and I decided next time, we think we're going Mac.

I have a Dell Latitude D820. Works great and no issues (its a few years old already). I do think its more than $500 though.

thanks guys.
as far as the mac, I have a pc at home, and pc at school, so wont it be a pain to switch back and forth? (pc/mac?)
does the mac accept the pc flash drive?
(my hubby knows these answers, but he's not here )
We've had a sony Vaio that's gone goodbye now.

You won't find a color laptop for under 500 bucks. I recommend you visit Best Buy, Circuit City and check out there sub 500 collection. They work great and have enough features for you to enjoy computer...pictures, music, email etc...
Toshiba has a nice entry level 500 laptop...
If you provide me links to sites, i will comment on them...

We have a HP which we like but we had the same problem with it overheating
we have to use a surge protector when we plug it in ...which is no big deal
