We bought our Fellowes paper shredder from Best Buy-it's a small one but boy, as my DH just said, "that sucker's been through a lot and it keeps tickin'!"

All shredders are prone to problems.
I would just wait until one goes on sale at Staples. I bought one that was $30 with a $20 online easy rebate. $10 total. It's small but it crosscuts.
I figured if it breaks I am only out $10 bucks and i'll go and buy whatever is on sale at that time.
I probably would have spent up to $50-60 at the time (after rebate) but the one they had on sale at the time was the cheap one so I got that.
Staples easy rebates are great too. They come QUICK and you can fill them out online (no mailing in).

Me too! I love it! It also takes CD and CC.
Make sure to check how many pages you can shred at the same time AND how the maximum number of pages you can do in a day.
For example, mine is a 10 page at once shredder and 100 pages per day.
It's usually not recommended to go to those limits. So I will do several pages but not 10.
I checked it at Stapples but found it $40 cheaper online.

We got ours at Bed Bath and Beyond
The brand is called Aurora. We had it for 3 years and no problems.
