Recommendations for Eczema

Anyone have it?
I get this nasty red rash on my neck and when it flares up it looks just awful!
All blotchy and red and flakey!
I've been to the dermo and to be honest everything they have given me over the years really does nothing.
I feel like they are just givng me hyrdo cortosone which I can buy over the counter.
I have heard Aveeno works well as a soap for this kind of condition...has anyone tried it?
Also- any has anyone had any luck with any topical creams etc?

Re: Recommendations for Eczema

I had eczema on my legs when I was little. I remember the dr. said not to wash the area with soap as it makes it worse. Have you been using soap in the area? if so, maybe stop doing that for a week or two and use the hydrocortisone cream and see if it clears up. Then start using Avveeno foaming face wash for sensitive skin in that area. Hopefully this will clear it up!

Did the dermo test it to se if it was an allergic reaction? If so, try taking some benedryl.

I am going to try this- I know my mom said the dermo told her to avoid all soaps and body washes too in the affected area...but it's on my neck so my shampoo always drips down there when rinsing too.

You know they never did test me for an allergic reaction but it is possible that is what it is- because I notice when my other allergy symptoms are bad it seems to flare really bad.

I think maybe I've been seeing cr@ppy dermos! Chat Icon

I have to do something- when it flares up it looks just awful and it's on my neck so it looks like somebody was choking me with a rope!!

Maybe try taking a couple of benedryl tongiht before bed and see if its better in the morning. I think its hard with the soap no matter where the effected skin is as its bound to get some on it. but I think if you just don't use body soap for a few days on the area and then switch to something for sensitive skin, it will be okay. Def try the Aveeno or try cetephil.
