Recruiting Agencies asking for copies of my passport and drivers license
It seems that every time I register with an agency, they want a copy of my passport and drivers license for their records, so that once they find me a position everything's in place from a payroll standpoint. I understand this. But, these agencies have yet to find me a position, not to mention that in my field, no one has ever called needing someone with three days notice. this has not happened EVER.
So now I have ANOTHER agency wanting copies of passport and driver's license. I don't know what to do b/c this would be about the fifth agency with this information. I feel weird just having my govt documents sitting in all these places. They won't do business w/ me unless I provide copies. I am inclined to say no and to forget it, but I really do need a job and they are unbending. I don't know what to do. UGG
I just really hate the way agencies literally want your life story and you get very little in exchange. I hope I don't insult any recruiters who do work at agencies. I'm just really at my wits end. Thanks for letting me vent.

I had that experience also. I just ended up telling them that I would get the information to them once they find me a job. After all, it's their JOB to find me work.

Honestly, unless you are planning on working contract or temp, they should not be asking you for this information at all. If you are working with a recruiter for a full-time direct hire position only, I can understand them having you agree to a reference and background check form but not anything else. If you are planning on working contract or temp, then simply tell them you prefer to give that information to them once they help you secure an assignment.
