Complain to PC. They'll refund your money. My parents have done this with eggs ironically (although they weren't red!!!). Chat Icon

Re: Red eggs? Yuck!

It could be a blood spot in an egg. This happens sometimes when the chicken lays an egg. Don't eat the egg! It wouldn't hurt you but Chat Icon. It could also be a fertilized egg that happened at the factory by mistake. I am a biology teacher and when we do the embryonic structures I always hope that one of my students will get one. I think they are pretty rare because I have never gotten one.

Re: Red eggs? Yuck!

i got one of those once... we think it was blood and that it was fertilized by accident. It was just 1 random one in the dozen.

Gross, but it was the only one i've ever seen. although, ever since then i always crack eggs seprately in small bowls...

Re: Red eggs? Yuck!

If you do a google seaarch a lot of red yolked eggs have to do with what the hens feed on (red peppers, worms, etc ...) ... green or orange could also happen ...

Most chicken farms feed their chickens with grains enriched with yellow dye to ensure bright yellow yolks (according to one website)

That's happened to me too - you never know, sometimes you just get a bad egg. Doesn't matter where its from.

Take it back - they'll refund the $ Chat Icon

Re: Red eggs? Yuck!

I did not read through the entire thread, but if the egg is red inside, that means the egg was FERTALIZED and those were baby chicks growing inside. You should call the number on the carton to let them know they are selling fertalized eggs. Go to the store you purchased them and get your $ back.
