Red icing??? HELP!
OK I am working on spider man cupcakes.
I CAN NOT get the icing red. I used an entire tube of red food coloring. And the package said "new improved TRUE red".
Well, all I get is pink. Spidey can not be pink!
Help please. how/where do you make/get red icing?

wait- i'll find it for you--- give me a second.
OK- here's what I found. If you use chocolate icing you can get it a deep red using coloring.
Or you can start w/ pink icing and keep adding red to that and it makes a deep red supposedly.
What kind of icing are you using? Your own or out of a can? I was reading that if there's a lot of fat in the icing that it may not accept the red to make it red enough, no matter how much you add--- it'll stay pink. HTH!

i bought at michael's in their cake area, theyhave a red dye for adding to frosting its made by wiltons, in a little jar, i mean ver small, and its kinda like a gel, works amazing! don't get it on your hands or cloths, it stains for days!! gl

Red is a hard color to make in Icing.
I have tried many times. did you try and add a little blue to make it darker?
