Reducing bottles/oz - 11 month old ques.

I feel like my pedi has given us no direction. DD will be 11 months soon and I feel like she still drinks a lot of oz. She has 5 bottles that average about 30 oz or so. She doesn't really "get" the idea of table food. She likes to feed herself, but most of the food comes back out and ends up in her highchair. When should I be reducing her bottles? How do I "get" her to consume more table food?

I am so afraid to change her feeding schedule b/c when I increased her oz. a few months ago she started STTN and I don't want that to stop!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

DS at one point was consuming 30-35 oz/day and the ped made us cut back to 16 oz/day by 12 months. He wanted DS to eat more food and drink less milk. We started cutting back 4 ounces each week and increasing his table food with no problems. We substituted water and some yogurt whenever he looked like he was craving extra milk.

As for consuming more table food, we kept introducing new food after new food so we could see what he likes to eat and what he doesn't like. Eventually we found meatballs and mashed potatoes to be his favorite.

You're lucky she likes to feed herself! The only thing DS wll feed himself are puffs and cheerios...everything else he wants to be fed by someone else!

I just followed DD's lead. At 11 months she was having 3 bottles a day. I always gave her food first so she was hungrier than if she had the bottle first. She stopped finishing the mid day bottle so I started giving it to her in a straw cup with lunch. Now at 12.5 months she is off the bottle and drinking about 16-20 oz of milk a day. Can you try feeding the meal first? Is your DC finishing all the bottles?
