Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal have split, a source close to the actress tells PEOPLE.
No further details were given.
UPDATE:
Despite reports, Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal are still very much a couple, according to their reps.
Although a source close to the couple says their relationship has ended, reps for both say, "it is not true." Nanci Ryder and Carrie Byalick, who rep Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal respectively, tell PEOPLE, "They are still together."

I never really *loved* them together, but I'm glad they are saying it's not true.
However, it always feels like as soon as the rumors start to swirl about a celeb couple splitting, it's not long before they actually do. Hopefully not though.

I never believe "reps", especially since reps always advise their clients to "deny deny" until you make a statement about whatever it is YOURSELF.

Exactly what I was thinking. This is probably true, or at least their relationship is on the rocks, but they don't want it out in the open yet.
