Reflux Baby Mommies--I am losing my mind
So DD has been put off Zantac and we tried the Good Start formula for a week now and NOTHING has changed. She is still spitting up, gassy and FUSSY. The ped wants to try Similac Alimentum-has anyone had any luck with this??? If it doesnt work they want her to see a GI doctor
P.s there is also the possibility its just gas issues but what formula helps with that...

Why did they take her off the Zantac? My DD started on Zantac and it made her worse.
Axid worked wonders for us...

For us the rice cereal in his bottles worked fantastic!!!!! We couldnt even lay him down on his back before...The spit up is less too.

Re: Reflux Baby Mommies--I am losing my mind
Enfamil AR was the magic elixir for us....we elevated the head of the crib, had her on zantac, and kept her upright after meals but the only thing that seemed to make a difference was the AR formula.
Dr. recommended the AR formula but said we could have just added rice cereal to her bottles....the benefit to the AR formula vs. adding rice cereal to the bottles is that its adjusted for the baby's nutrition so they get the right amount of calories/vitamins/minerals from every ounce.....
BTW - it also cut down on the gas indirectly since without the reflux constantly burning her throat she cried less and swallowed less air.

Well it does take a bit longer for it to work. It usually takes about 2 weeks for a formula to make a difference.
Also it wont stop the psitting up, but should stop the fussiness.
Noah still Spits up many times after a bottle on the Zantac and Gentlease but not as fussy to feed.
HE also always sleeps on an incline.

Re: Reflux Baby Mommies--I am losing my mind
Dd had bad reflux and the zantac helped- but try lactose free formula. The ped said not to bother but we did anyway and it helped so much- I got the idea from a friend whose baby also had reflux.
BTW she has no milk allergy now.

Re: Reflux Baby Mommies--I am losing my mind
Thanks ladies. She stopped the Zantac last week after a week of using. No milk allergy (no blood in stool). I wonder if I do try to keep the formula for another week if it will make a difference. I also wonder about if she will gain sufficient weight on the Similac Alimentum if we do make the change.

Not a popular choice by some, but I would recommend putting 2 tsp. cereal in his bottle. It helped ALOT!

I would try the Alimentum as suggested. DDs were put on this, the Zantac and with the incline sleeping I think it really helped them. We were able to wean them off of the Alimentum around 10 months. Good luck!

My nephew was born with gastroskisis (sp?) where his intestines were outside. He drank Alimentum and never had a problem. He is now a very healthy boy. I hope it works for her!

Re: Reflux Baby Mommies--I am losing my mind
We switched to Enfamil ProSobee. It worked really well for the gas. Before that he was on Nutramigen. I think soy formulas are best for gas. He also had AR. For that he was on axid. It worked pretty well.

She is fighting with the Secure sleeper incline that we bought. She will only sleep on her side.
