Reformed thumb suckers?
How did you get your child to stop? Maddie's teeth are coming in already bumped in. I'm also thinking her speech is being affected - and I'm sure she probably has no muscle development in that arm since it stays in one position at all time...

Re: Reformed thumb suckers?
Ok.. I dont really have great advice for you but I wanted to give my two cents..
When I was little I sucked my thumb. It caused so many problems with not only my teeth but with the muscle that connects your upper lip to your gums... It grew inbetween my two front teeth and I had a space inbetween my teeth growing up the size of a football goal post.. Anyway-- I had to deal with not only the social embarassment of going through an operation to try and fix it, as well as braces, but trying to stop by myself.. I think I was about ten when I DID stop.. My parents tried all the old wives tales and then just figured I would give it up when I was ready.
My advice for you, is ask the pediatrician what he recommends is the best way. Things have come a long way the past 20+ years. HTH

I found this.. this is by one step ahead.. if its as bad as you say it is.. ask your ped. and see if you should resort to something like this to break the habit now... Good Luck! Image Attachment(s):
