Refusing the bottle...
Isabella has been refusing her bottle...
Her eating schedule is:
7 am--5-6 oz bottle (now it's a battle to get 4-5 oz in)
11 am--4 tbsp cereal, full jar of Stage 2 fruits usually a 5-6 oz bottle (now she is taking sometimes 3 oz, sometimes the whole thing)
3 pm--Yobaby, full jar of stage 2 veggies, usually a 5-6 oz bottle (sometimes she is refusing all together...sometimes it's 2-3 oz)
7 pm--full Stage 2 meat/veggie mix, 3/4 Stage 3 fruit...(5 oz bottle, now refusing all together unless she drinks 3 oz, MAYBE)
I just called the doc and they are saying she should be drinking 24-28 oz, I am waiting for the doc to call back...she had 9 oz yesterday...the nurse is such a BEEYOTCH!

Re: Refusing the bottle...
What is it about this age that babies suddenly start refusing their bottles? Same thing started happening with Jake at that age and has only gotten progressively worse.
I keep thinking I might as well wean him off the bottle now since it seems like it will be a breeze!!
Could it be teething? I really think that's what has set it off for Jake.

Re: Refusing the bottle...
Alex does this a lot... especially when she isn't feeling well, or when she's teething. It's REALLY bad when she's teething - she hardly eats at all!

Re: Refusing the bottle...
My ped office just called back...the nurse chatted with my dr and said as long as she continues to have wet diapers and is eating her food (which she has been doing VERY well) it's OK.
I think she MAY be teething but I don't know... she does go down in OZ with the bottle when she is sick and that I am OK with, but the fact that she is doing this when she is feeling OK and not exhibiting any other signs worried me...
Should I try water or juice? I just don't want her to drink even less formula...

Re: Refusing the bottle...
Have you tried feeding her and giving her the bottles at different times? Or maybe give her the bottle before the food. My daughter went through phases like this also. It will pass. Like your doctor said as long as she has wet diapers, don't worry yourself.

I was going to suggest this. I wouldn't offer her water/juice especially if she's giving you plenty of wet diapers.
My DS will be 10 months next week. He's down to 3 bottles/day. Here's his schedule:
7:30 am - 8 oz bottle (but he always leaves 2 oz for his cereal @ 8:00 )
8:00 ish - breakfast
12:00 - lunch
3:30 ish - 8 oz. bottle
6:00 - dinner
7:30 - 8 oz bedtime bottle
He's been drinking a little bit of water throughout the day from his sippy cup. No more than 3-4 oz, though.

Re: Refusing the bottle...
We're having the same problem and for us it's even worse because Miranda was only drinking about 18-20oz a day previously so now its probably only 12-15oz and she doesn't eat nearly as much as Bella. She is eating yogurt thank goodness and started finally taking a full jar of food instead of 1/2 at each meal. I worry about this a lot because she is now down to the 3rd percentile for her weight. She's 8 months old and doesn't even weigh 15lbs yet and now is on a bottle strike.

Re: Refusing the bottle...
So of course the day I finally call the ped, she drank all her bottles at daycare and is at 17 oz for the day...I cannot figure her out, she definitely likes to keep me on my toes!
Thanks for all the advice...I would feed her more often but we tried that when she started solids and she did NOT like eating so often...that's why she only eats 4 times a day...
