Regretting my pregnancy diet

Today, I can't help but feel like the worse mother. I haven't eaten the best this pregnancy and I drank soda more than I care to admit and have personally kept Dunkin donuts in business with all the donuts I've consumed. I feel like the worse mother and that I should have eaten better. Please tell me I'm crazy. I'm really trying now that I feel better to not eat so much crap

While I haven't eaten donuts or soda, I have not eaten any veggies (other than corn or steamed broccoli) and zero fruit in the last 19 weeks. I'm not going to stress about it. Baby will be fine I am sure. I have never forgotten to take my vitamins and that's the main thing IMO.

Re: Regretting my pregnancy diet

I ate like shit while pregnant.
I eat like shit normally so I wasn't changing just because I was pregnant.
I even- GASP- drank wine here and there.
I ate everything on the BS no-no list too- like hot dogs, cold cuts, soft serve, you name it.

DD was born healthy and fine and 6 years later she is the healthiest kid I know.

Don't stress it. Unless you are doing coke and binge drinking, there isn't much you can ingest that will harm your baby.

YUP! Exactly this! Unless my doctor tells me I have GD (knock on wood) or I'm gaining too much weight, I have no intensions of watching what I eat, except to go into my mouth.

Re: Regretting my pregnancy diet

I started out so healthy. I was drinking nothing but water, eating 3 square meals a day with healthy snacks like smoothies with spinach and other disgusting-ness in it.... then the nausea hit. And I had to drink ginger ale and eat carbs to survive. I never went back to eating healthy. In fact, 5 months pp and just typing the word spinach makes me gag. Especially when I got near the end and I was cranky and miserable... everyone felt bad for me and brought me donuts and ice cream. Chat Icon It was so bad. DD is 5 months old now and happy and healthy. And I'm still eating donuts and ice cream like my life depends on it- stupid breastfeeding. Chat Icon Go ahead and indulge! Chat Icon

ETA: I didn't gain too much weight- 29 lbs in total. and I had no GD.

With my first I ate so bad, fast food everyday. In my head oh I am pregnant I can eat anything, probably the reason why my kid was 9.9lbs lol.

I have been eating some cold cut sandwiches lately, my appetite has been kicking in big time and haven't been eating the best either.

I have eaten it all this pregnancy -- hot dogs, cold cuts, soda. Im not big on veggies and eating fruit all day long normally and didnt increase these items in my diet during pregnancy. I do eat sweets occasionally too. Everything in moderation as per usual. I dont have GD and im 4 weeks from due and gained 17lbs so far. Dont worry you are not a bad mom!

I'm happy you posted this and seeing these responses. I was so good at the beg of my pregnancy....nothing but water or seltzer. At some point I just said f it and now I drink a can of soda almost daily. I haven't eaten the most healthiest either.

Regretting my pregnancy diet

Omg these posts are 1- hilarious! Especially you NervousNell!! But they make me feel so much better knowing I'm not the only one!!! I've tried to be much better the recent weeks! I'm up 15lbs with twins at 20 weeks and the doctor hasn't said anything yet! Yesterday I had a cream soda, looked at the sugar intake and had a meltdown that I was the worse mother on earth drinking it! But it was so good! Lol

I actually justified eating Swedish fish for dinner one night by calling it seafood. My kids are healthy and happy. Don't worry about it.

As long as you don't have GD it's ok to have an occasional soda or something with a lot of sugar.
It's fine!
I stopped drinking diet (well cut it down a lot, had it like once or twice a month) when pregnant so I drank regular soda often

All is well!

I know! I feel guilty too for still drinking Diet Coke. Even though every doctor says you can have 1 or 2, I still feel guilty. However, I need the boost! It makes me feel so much better.

I am a migraine sufferer and while pregnant the only thing I could take was Tylenol (which did nothing) and drink a can of coke.
This was at my Dr's recommendation.
It actually helped me feel better too.

This is what i have had to do too. It def helps to add the coke. Without it tyleonol did nothing.
