Rehearsal dinner question (for wedding)...EDITED to clarify
I'm planning one and honestly can't remember what goes on at these things. It will only be the bridal party and parents attending, immed after the rehearsal in the church. I booked the restaurant, did the invitaitons and sent them out but, is there anything else that is typically done at these? Are there favors or anything else I need to do? TIA!
Sorry ladies - I just wanted to clarify - I'm not the bride - I'm planning it for my parents who are the parents of the groom (my brother)....I am a bridesmaid...just don't want the bride to be dissap....if that matters - thanks!

Re: Rehearsal dinner question (for wedding)...
there's not too much to do. just enjoy the time with your family and bridal party. at the dinner though, DH and I did give out the gifts to our bridal party and parents and thanked everyone for their support, love, blah, blah, blah. my brother and a few other people also used the time to "roast us".
we did not do favors or anything like that.

Re: Rehearsal dinner question (for wedding)...
I haven't been to one in a long time but there were never any favors at the RH dinners I went to. it was just dinner, drinks and mingling.
eta: like the pp said, that's usually when the BP gets their gifts.

in this case, it might be nice for your parents to say or do something.... my FIL is very shy and although he hosted (paid for the whole thing) he didn't say anything at the dinner or at the wedding. it might be nice for them to say something to their guests and the bride's parents.

we gave our bp their gifts at the RD. We've been to a few where there was a grooms cake at the RD. Have never been to one that had favors. but sounds like you've got everything under control!

We did a groom's cake also from Dortoni's. We did a cake of a Giants Jersey and had our last name written on the back.

I'm not sure how formal of a dinner you are having, but what about seating arrangements, if you want to do centerpieces, as a PP mentioned you can get a special cake.

At ours my mom gave a speech, and we gave the gifts to the bridal party. Other than that, just eating and socializing.
ETA: Oh, and I had a cake in the shape of an aquarium delivered to the restaurant as a surprise for DH. It was his groom's cake

We had favors. (I didn't know about them.) Dh's aunt made up little bags of chocolate bride & groom bears--it was a nice surprise.
The hosts should make a toast early on (don't remember if my dad did that, though) & teh couple usually gives a little thank you speech towards the end & hand out bridal party gifts.
At a few I have been to (inlcuding mine) some close family & members of the bridal party gave gifts to the couple instead of at the wedding, especially if it was something to open.
The grooms cake is something the bridw would take care of, if she wants to. We didn't have that. We just had the dessert that came with the package.
We were just at one, and the Mother of the groom made a little "Congrats B & G" banner to hang in the room.

It's just a party, so just go and have fun!
You don't need to do favors. We did Hershey Bar place cards for ours with personlized wrappers I made, but I've never been to a RD with favors.
At most of the RDs we've been to, someone made a toast or (in the case of my family) toasts. At mine, for example, my FIL, my mom, my MOH, and both of my brothers (plus some people I am likely forgetting) got up and gave toasts.
Have fun!
