Related to all the Bumbo threads, I just have to say
It is really bothering me how many people are throwing around words like "dumb", "moron" and "stupid"
Since the beginning of LIF I've seen pics posted of infants in bumbos, bouncers and all kinds of other items on tables, counters, beds, couches, etc. I myself never did it. But people make mistakes. Maybe they didn't realize the they are unstable on those surfaces. Maybe they didn't know that many babies start to throw themselves backwards and can flop out of the bumbo.
I just hate to think of the moms on here who are beating themselves up for what might have happened, and then they see people calling them names. It would hurt my feelings.

I understand what you are saying, but I still think it's stupid to ignore safety rules and recommendations then blame the manufacturer who warned you.
I myself have put the bumbo on our coffee table. I think I was stupid for doing that.

I have to say i too put the bumbo on the table while i ate it was just easier.... but as soon as they started to wiggle i stopped... i think back now and yeah that was pretty dumb of me... mind you they were in the middle of the table but still anything could have happened.

Cathy I think that you are most definitely a very sweet person
I have put Lucas in the bumbo on the table while we sat with him and I realize that was not safe but I'm not beating myself up over it - it was never unsupervised. No one cares more about that little boy than I do and I never have any intention of hurting him. I don't think what I do is stupid and I am not hurt by the comments but I think it was really nice of you to take other's feelings into consideration like that.

Our mothers probably had us all on tables and doing all kinds of unsafe stuff with us in the 70's...
Everyone takes risks with every single thing they do. I rarely follow directions to the tee on anything...so there you go!

I just know I still beat myself up over soemthing that happened almost a year ago. I left Andy alone in the playroom for a few minutes, and he stuck a small toy of Sarah's in his mouth. When I got back he was barely breathing. I still think of what might have happened if I stopped to go to the bathroom or get a glass of water before I went back in the room. I'd feel even worse if I saw stuff like "What kind of moron leaves an infant around small toys they can choke on?"

ITA, I have put my son on the kitchen table to eat, but not unattended. But now he wants to squirm out of all the time, so we are using the high chair for feedings. But Ireally don't feel hurt by the comments.
