Remember when we got married

there were all those month to month checklists. How come they don't have one for pregnancy? Like when do you register at the hospital? Look for a pediatrician? etc.

Who sees the baby in the hospital? The OB/GYN, the house doctor on duty, the pediatrician you choose to use????

wow i never thought oif that....that would be an excellent idea if a list like that existed....i wonder if it does

eta to answer some of ur questions.....i believe the baby gets seen by the doctors there BUT if u have ur pediatrican lined up he/she comes to check the baby as well

You can ask your doctor, they will give you something if you want.

ALso, remember, they know what they are doing and will tell you when youhave a major test, registering at the hospital, etc. will come up.

As for who sees the baby at the hospital, your ped should see them, but if for some reason you don't have one yet, or they don't hate rights that the hospital you are delivering at, then you can have the ped on call see DC.

Lots of reading... My ped will come to the hospital. Some of them do and some don't, you have to ask them. If your doctor doesn't come, the resident will see the baby instead.

yeah, I was thinking about that hospital registration card recently. the OB gave it to me at week 7 but said to not mail it in until after week 20 of course I think I lost it in the interim

some stuff I can think of that has to be done now...

hospital registration?
pediatrician?
cord bank registration?
day care?
set-up nursery
make storage space for toys/clutter

later on:
open and organize shower gifts
buy remaining stuff
hospital bag
buy diapers, detergent, wipes... all that good stuff
cook a lot of food and freeze it down

I'm sure there's lots more

You can talk to your doctor about certain things.

My doctor gave me a bag of goodies and in that bag was 2 folders. One for first trimester and one for second trimester (what to expect, what tests are done, what foods I can eat, what medicines are safe for me, etc) I also got a time line of when I should register for classes, visit the hospital for a tour, register at the hospital and for the epi if I want one, etc...

At my appt the doctor goes over with me what I should be doing over the next 4 weeks and if their are any tests I should be sent for.

As for other things such as when to buy diapers, set up the nursery, etc...I am just doing it as I go. My cousin suggested to me to start buying all different sized diapers now because those are something we'll go through pretty fast. She told me she didnt have to buy diapers for about 6 months. So if I see diapers on sale or see a coupon I pick up a pack.

The nursery we're going to start in July. My parents are coming down for a week and we'll set it all up with them here.

My pregnancy journal has a checklist and the weekly emails I get tell you what you should do that week.

Honestly- I think the OB-GYN's office assumes we all have preggo-brain so they take care of all of that for you. Every appointment from 20-some odd weeks on, I had "new" instructions (when to regisiter, when to take the classes, when to find a PED).
