Removing Things from Computer??

My aunt wants to give me her Laptop but Im sooo not computer savvy.

She has programs on there ( I-tunes for example) and some pictures and music.

How do I get them off there and onto her new computer?

I know I can buy one of those "things ( ye sI have no idea what they are called) ..

But can someone give me specific instructions or tell me where to find them to download stuff off the computer?

TIA!

You have to go to control panel then add/remove programs and uninstall what you don't want.

She'll have to install the programs on her new computer (iTunes can be downloaded online, other programs she may need the original CDs). As for pictures and such, you can burn them onto a CD or DVD and then load them on her new computer or if she has a flash drive or external hard drive you can transfer them that way.

I usually log into a different account than what she normally uses (make a temp account with Admin rights if you need), then copy everything under "Documents and Settings-><username>"

If you can't make a new user account, you can just copy the following folders from the <username> folder:
Cookies (stores web-related info)
Desktop (stores the desktop icons)
Favorites (Internet Explorer bookmarks)
My Documents (default location for documents)
