Renting a house on the beach - where?
Any recommendations?
This year for vacation we are thinking of renting a house. We are going to have two little one's (20 & 5 months). I don't want to drive too far (otherwise I would consider the Outerbanks).
Thinking: VA Ocean City, Maryland Jersey Shore Fire Island Cape Cod

Relaxing vacation- Ocean Beach or Ocean Bay Park, Fire Island. I love Fire Island!
Ocean City MD if you want more "to do"

Ocean City NJ is awesome for kids...my family has a house there and has been going my entire life. only about 2.5 hours away...great boardwalk with cute rides and shops. very very clean beaches. The town is actually a "dry" town which means no bars in town and none of the restaurants serve alcohol...but you can often bring your own or just have drinks at your house...

We used to do Jersey Shore when we were kids. It was very nice. I loved Long Beach Island. My brother, SIL & family go to Bethany Beach in Delaware (I think that's what it's called ) and they love it. they've been going every summer for a very long time with SIL's family.

ITA!! ( except for the part about my family having a house down there- LOL)
BUT i went to college right near there, and we used to go there all the time-- we actually got engaged in Ocean City its GREAT! nice family town with a boardwalk, nice beach, and i think the whole "dry town" thing really makes it nice for families, because it keeps a lot of the "Sketchy" element away... definitely worth looking into!

Will you have anyone with you who could watch the kiddies a night or two? If so I would definitely say Ocean City, MD. So much fun to go to Seacrets! Love it there.

My family vacations to Sea Isle City every summer to a beach house on the beach. WE LOVE it there. I am a huge fan of the Jersey shore! You get so much more for your money then you do on LI...plus there is nothing like the board walks and such that they offer. That is totally my recommendation!

I second Ocean City NJ!!!!
We are renting a house this year for a week. gorgeous beaches, pleanty to do. since its a dry island, there arent many kids/teens/college kids - its all families. there is a liquor store right outside of town if you want to bring in alcohol.

LBI! There are tons of beautiful houses on the beach you can rent and they vary in size and price.
