Repairing damage to vinyl siding?
Any suggestions on repairing vinyl siding? We have two pieces that got busted up - I suspect one of two neighbors with baseballs or golf balls (which often end up on the other side of the yard). Would a siding company come out to replace just a couple pieces? I don't want to leave the insulation underneath exposed to the weather.

Where do you live? My neighbor just had a guy come do a very small repair on his (and it was not the company that installed the siding b/c it was installed many years ago by the previous owner).

It is very hard to match siding, depending on where it is will affect the price. If it is not in a very noticeable area you can do it yourself.
Good Luck, siding is easy, the basic rules are always leave space for expansion and do not drive the nails all the way in leave loose. You can research this online......

I saw them do it on This Old House. You can search their website and it may give step by step instructions.
They suggested taking siding from a part of the house no one really sees, and swap it for hte more noticeable area to have better color matches.

Re: Repairing damage to vinyl siding?
Thanks for the info. We're in the Sayville / Bohemia area. I'll check on line. It's in the back of the house so it's not real noticible. I have no idea who the former owners used for the original work. I'm not too concerned about a perfect match as we'll be replacing it at some time before we sell most likely. Just want to get it patched up before the weather affects the insulation. Fortunately that stayed intact.
