Replacing sliding door with french doors...
We have a standard set of sliding glass doors in our din room leading to our deck. DH is contemplating replacing with french doors - I am semi-against the idea b/c the swing out will make us loose some deck space.
Approximately how much does something like this cost?
I have heard $2-3k but that is to add french doors where there is no existing opening. Assuming we stick with the same size opening...just wondering...
THANKS!

Re: Replacing sliding door with french doors...
We did. We replaced hideous metal-framed glass sliding doors with french doors in our dining room (which leads to a back deck). The size was the same, so DH and a friend did the installation. The doors were really the only cost, and a few $$ to replace some singles, paint and put in a new sash on the back deck. It was less than $1000 for it all. And the doors we got open into our dining room, not out to the deck. Let me see if I can find pics for you.
Before (don't mind DH's butt )
During (removing old metal frame):

This was after, with the screen doors on:
