repost - need some good thoughts
dh and i are planning on moving into my mom's house, she has an upstairs apartment and with the baby coming, it is the exact size we need. we have been working on the nursery and our bedroom, but there are 3 other rooms up there that my mom is currently renting out to another person.
she has spoken to this tenant, explained the situation and he was 'fine' with it. agreed that "family comes first" but has since been causing soo many problems.
he has called the cops on my dh, he has sent threatening letters to my mom and he is now starting to do the 'little things' to my mom's yard and house trying to show he is 'in control'.
i am stressed to the hilts with this b/c our is coming soon (about 9 weeks) and we cannot move in until he is out.
my mom is starting to go about the 'legal way' of getting him out, but there are so many loopholes and it's almost as if the tenant has more rights than the homeowner.
please keep us in good thoughts that this goes smoothly and we are able to get settled before our little guy comes. also, pray to keep us safe, this tenant is a real looney tune and is starting to show his true colors, and it really does make us nervous.
if anyone has any advice, i'll take that too! thanks for listening.

I'm sorry to hear this. My dad is also a landlord, and yes, it is as if the tennant has more rights. Did your mom give him written notice in the beginning? If not, that could be why she is having a hard time getting him out.
I hope everything works out. Now she could keep his security deposit that he hopefully left since he is doing things to the property

yes, she did give him written notice, but it didn't seem to phase him. and yea, she'll keep the security deposit but it's only for one month, he may end up not paying at all if it takes some time.
