Repost - stepmoms out there???
Hi - I'm a LIW gal who heard about this site - and may start posting on here...
I am interested in hearing from women who do not have kids of their own, but who are stepmoms or soon to be stepmoms....
Anyone out there????

I am a stepmom of a 13 year old. And boy hitting 13 really is super fun so far...they get very attitudy, snippy and seem to start knowing everything!!
How old is your stepchild??

2 girls - 9 and 15 - well, they both will be in January... Things are fine with the older one - she is great - I just sometimes wonder how to deal with the younger- she's getting at a tough age...

I am a stepdaughter. Will the children be living with you? Is there mother a caregiver in their life or is your husband to be a widower?
I think the most important thing ever is to NEVER say anything ore reactive negatively about the other parent or their previous marriage.

I became a stepchild at 15 and it was SO hard because favorites were played (it was me and my sis vs her 2 boys) and we all lived together.

Oh yeah - I had stepmother since I was 12 (they were together since I was 9) - they are celebrating their 20th anniversary this month, and I also has 2 much older stepsisters - very difficult - I lived with my emotionally unstable mother and had weekend visitation with my dad and stepmom - it was very strained and difficult - still is, so I always want to make sure I do a better job.
They live with mom - everything is amicable, but I disagree with some of the values she's raising them with - I know I should mind my own, but it's hard - we've been together over 2 years, I am very much in the girl's lives. They are great kids, but we have little money, and mom takes them shopping ALL the time - she has a problem with is. The younger one is getting resentful and tells us we "never" let her buy anything!
Also, she writes about her mother's boyfriend all the time (they have been together a while) in school presentations, and she never writes anything about her dad. I felt bad and once asked her why - she said that she has no memories of doing anything with her dad - which is so not true - we do a lot together...
Anyway - just needed to vent....

I was a stepchild on both sides and I have a 12yo stepdaughter. I love her but at times she is trying...

I'm not a step-mom, but DH is a step-dad. I have a son from a previous marriage, who's almost 8. DH had no children of his own when we got married.
I give step-parents alot of credit. It's hard coming into a relationship and taking on someone elses children.
