Repost from Dining board on Waldorf Astoria...
DH and I have reservations there in a few weeks. It was a combined gift from parents. I am sooo excited to have a night out with DH. We are also seeing a matinee.
Anyway, since we are staying at the hotel wanted to go out near the restaurant so we can go get some drinks there after and enjoy staying there.
Any ideas? Maybe even the restaurants there.
Also want to add if anyone knows if they have parking?
Thanks!

There is a parking garage in the hotel. It used to be $50 a night - last time I parked there was 3 years ago so it may have changed.

My office is across the street.....
The National is great. Can't go wrong.
Smith and Wollensky is just 2 blocks away....if you are steak-eaters.
Bobby Vans is good.
Love Fresco by Scotto....just a few blocks away. Have eaten there lots and never had a bad experience.
Will keep thinking. Feel free to FM me if you have questions about specific restaurants.

Thanks! Great to know. Looking for something good and I guess romantic since DH and I don't go out too often. Mostly if we go out it's playdates with friends so I want to enjoy my glass of wine (or 4 ) while I can. Also, do you know the deal with parking there?
Thanks! I don't eat steak, but have been to Smith and Wollensky a few times. My old roommate dated a guy who had a big acct with them so we've been a bunch.

The Waldorf has a restaurant in it, The Bull and Bear I think its called, but when we ate there in June it wasn't that good and was wildly expensive. I'd suggest going elsewhere. Our stay at the hotel was lovely though.

S&W & Bobby Vans are my favorite in that area.

Parking in the Waldorf garage is $60 per night. They do an AMAZING Sunday brunch in the hotel but I don't think they do it during the summer.
