Repost from NWR about emails
When you apply for jobs and get an email response back- that they received your resume, will be considering it, and will contact you if they are interested- do you write back? I don't mean the automatic ones but one where a person actually sent it.
Just a simple "Thank you for letting me know, I look forwards to hearing from you" kind of thing?

Re: Repost from NWR about emails
It depends. On several jobs that I really wanted, that the e-mail was from an actual person( manager, or HR person) I will respond back, thank you for your response....I look forward to speaking with you soon....that kind of thing.

Yes I would unless it said do not respond. Its just common courtesy so the person knows you got their e-mail

Re: Repost from NWR about emails
While a reply to this email is definitely acceptable, I would still send a hand written thank you note for the interview on nice-ish stationary to the person who conducted the interview - a follow-up call also works with the same type of verbiage "Hi this is xx, I just wanted to thank you for giving me the opportunity to interview with your company. I look forward to hearing from you blah blah blah". One of my friends used to do recruiting and interviewing at her old job and she said that the hand written notes definitely stand out as opposed to an email.
Just my .02 Good luck!

I would send a simple email back - just the way you worded it
