Repost from Preg--Hair Dye

Sorry for asking this again over here...
But I am nervous to do the wrong thing!

My Dr told me it was ok to dye my hair at any time, using henna or something with no chemicals. I am going at 8 weeks b/c I look and feel gross!

I asked on preg. about this and everyone said their dr said after the 1st trimester.

What did you do????

Thanks!!!

I believe they don't want you to do anything the first trimester because the baby's organs are forming.

Re: Repost from Preg--Hair Dye

My hair dresser told me that there is no way in the world he would color my hair while I was PG...he showed me his hands...and explained that it is the color that has cracked them...and caused him all kinds of issues...

After seeing his hands...I figured it just isn't worth it.

My Dr...said there really isn't enough proof either way to support coloring your hair or not...he says that if you can get by without then don't do it.

Re: Repost from Preg--Hair Dye

I got my hair highlighted my hair my whole pregnancy, and everything was fine! Chat Icon I think its the single process they worry about.

Re: Repost from Preg--Hair Dye

I was very nervous to do this also. My dr said highlights were perfectly safe because they dont touch the scalp. I am not sure about dying full head though because Ive only used foils. He let me do this after 10 weeks and I have had it done 2x since.

Re: Repost from Preg--Hair Dye

I was hairdresser 8 years and I colored all my clients hair when they were pregnant. I also colored my own hair through my entire pregnancy. I do suggest that people do foils opposed to a single process, mostly because of all the chemicals sitting on the direct skin. My Dr. assured me that they have no proof that this could or would be dangerous to a baby.

I completely understand that your nervous (I was too when it was my baby in there ;) ). I'm sure it will be fine. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I opted not to dye my hair for my entire pregnancy. For me is just wasn't worth any risk.

Single process every 4-6 weeks throughout both pregnancies. Ok'd by my ob/gyn

Kids are fine but dont' listen. Could be the hair dye....

Oddly enough my hairdresser said she wouldn't recommend highlighting or any kind of bleach.
