REPOST from Pregnancy - Glucose Test Question
Hi Ladies...
I am taking the 1 hr Glucose test this Saturday. My doctor said that some women fast but she would prefer I eat something before the test. I will be taking the test in the morning. I am not sure whether I should eat or not...I wanted to know what your experience was with the test.
Did you eat before the 1 hr Glucose test? Did you pass? If you ate and you remember and don't mind sharing, what did you eat before the test?
TIA

Re: REPOST from Pregnancy - Glucose Test Question
I did eat...a slice of plain toast...no butter or jam.
by the way...when you get to choose the drink...I choose the orange...3 women in the office who were there that day suggested the orange because it taste like orange soda. One Woman went with the coke flavor...and she said that it was tooooooo sweet to get down...it took her forever to drink it...and you have to wait 1/2 hour after you finish the drink to be tested.

Thanks for the tip, I'll chose the orange one too.

Re: REPOST from Pregnancy - Glucose Test Question
My dr told me I did not need to fast for the 1 hour but don't go eating something real sugary or high in carbs - her example was pancakes with syrup. I had fast for the 3 hour.
I went first thing in the morning and did not eat breakfast - so I did fast but not intentionally and I did fail and I did fail the 3 hour - I had GD. I truly believe if you eat normal, you will be fine if you don't have GD or aren't borderline. I personally can see your dr's point on not fasting and eating something.

Re: REPOST from Pregnancy - Glucose Test Question
I took the Glucose Test at night - so I had to fast after I drank the test (for one hour). I failed the 1 hour with both pregnancies and passed the 3 hour both times.
eta. I would think eating something would be a more accurate result seeing that when you wake up you've just fasted for 8 hours.

Re: REPOST from Pregnancy - Glucose Test Question
Thank you for all your responses ladies.
I will definitely pick the orange one and probably eat something light 1 hr or 2 before the test.

Re: REPOST from Pregnancy - Glucose Test Question
I was told I didn't have to fast, but I took the test so early in the morning that I ended up not eating anything. I passed.
