Was this the AFP test?
All I know is the test has many false positives! I specifically didnt take that test because a girl I work with had it done, and she was told her child would more than likely have Trisonmy 13/18 - they had her go to specialists- do all these extra sonos, and tests... and basically told her- her child would not survive...
And guess what....
Her son is a thriving 9 yr old lax player

Well- I would do whatever the DR wants you to do, to be sure- but try not to worry-
The AFP is known to give false information often!

I know many friends & friends of my sisters that had false positives as well. Their amnio confirmed the AFP test was wrong.
I hope your results come up just the same! I know saying don't stress isn't going to work. Just stay strong.

Of the positive test results, 90% of these babies will not have any anomalies. There may be other benign reasons for the elevated or low levels of the hormones, specifically the gestational age, or multiple pregnancies.

I heard the same thing from lots of moms and that is why I didn't take the test.
Try to just relax and take it one minute at a time.

could your dates be off? if they are it could screw up the whole test. even if it's just a week

Try not to worry - it's just one test and mistakes can be made. Speak with the specialist and see what your options are for other tests. They can be wrong - even right up until the birth. I hope all turns out well for you.
