Repost from Recipes: need suggestions
My girlfriend is having her second child next Friday. I want to make a dish to bring to her so she does not have to worry about cooking. Her husband does not eat vegetables and other people have already mentioned they are bringing her lasagna and other italian dishes. I am stumped as to what I should make. Anyone have any ideas or something fabulous that someone brought you when you came home from the hospital.
Nothing too hard or labor intensive please.
TIA

Re: Repost from Recipes: need suggestions
Something easy-MY DH loves that I make real quick for him.
My Version of cheese steak.. I slice some london broil, season it with some seasonings saute it with some olive oil. When it's medium, I cut a piece of italian bread, butter it, sprinkle a bit of garlic powder, put the sliced steak in there with some shredded cheddar cheese and some A1 sauce. PUt under broiler to melt cheese.
I put pepper/onions on it too, but if your friends DH hate veggies, you could leave them out.

How about a complete fajita dinner?
Cook the chicken, slice it, etc. Send over tortillas, cheese, black beasn, guac, sour cream, pico de gallo and depending on wheter they drink or not, a margarita mix.

Re: Repost from Recipes: need suggestions
I would get her a GC for a local pizzaria or Chinese restaurant. It's a lot easier (and probably cheaper) than making something.

I live in Georgia and there is no such thing as good chinese and pizza. HA! The idea behind bringing the meal is that dinner arrives at 6pm with no thought or effort on the part of the family. It is a standard thing here in Georgia. I love the idea but it is driving me crazy trying to think of the perfect thing to bring.

So bad for you but one of our favorites when we just want to eat something crappy.
Mac and cheese with ground hamburger.

Re: Repost from Recipes: need suggestions
I was going to suggest mac and cheese, but how about meatloaf and mashed potatoes. They'll just have to bake off the meatloaf and heat up the potatoes. Or maybe beef stew, chicken and rice.
