Repost LIW: How does your family handle..?
You being married?
It seems, now more than ever, that my mother is actually JELLOUS of my husband!!!! It doesn't even make sence to me!!!! Yesterday I came over because my fathers birthday was during the week and I just wanted to visit him, but my DH was not able to come because he was working. My mom constantly talked about how HAPPY she was that I was there ALONE! Than she proceeded to ask me how come when I come over for bbqs with DH I sit next to HIM and not HER!!!!! She actually wants me to have him sit all alone at MY family's BBQ so that I can be sitting with her!!! Than she makes references how SHE and my DAD are my family and he is not taking me away.
Is that normal? does anyone else have something like that?

Sounds like she misses you terribly and is still having trouble that her little girl is no longer her little girl. Maybe you could spend a little more time with her, doing special mom/daughter things once a month where just the two of you go out to lunch and some shopping, manicures/pedicures. Sounds like she is having some withdrawals without you and its nothing a little extra TLC can't cure.l

I think the 'missing' part is definately there. I guess I will have to try and make some time to hang out with her.

Re: Repost LIW: How does your family handle..?
My family is really happy, but they are really sad, at the same time. My dad has CRIED TWICE in the week and a half that I've been home from my honeymoon because he can't believe I'm married and out of the house now. I've NEVER seen my dad cry before! Not even at the wedding! I think he's taking it the worst, but I am extremely close with my dad. My mom just calls me five MILLION times a day to tell me she misses me (because, afterall, living twenty minutes away is so terrible ).

Re: Repost LIW: How does your family handle..?
My family has handled it well. I speak to my mom almost every day and try to see my parents at least once a week/ sometimes two times -- but we always cherish our moments together - because at the end of the night - they know I have to leave to my own home.
My sister is getting married in November - so i pretty much have broken them in to what to expect!

Re: Repost LIW: How does your family handle..?
As for me, my parents are ok with it - I've been pretty much out of the house for years now, so they've adjusted. My DH's parents - it's a little harder for them, so we go see them more often. It's a good thing we're close by to their house. But they've adjusted ok, as far as I know. My friend who got married in 2003, however, and moved to NC? Her mom cries every time she comes to visit and then again when she leaves. At least she's loved!

I don't really think a guy can relate to the mother/daughter relationship. JMO.

Re: Repost LIW: How does your family handle..?
I'm sure your Mom is probably missing you. I do occasionally visit my Mom w/o DH but it is easier for me since he works weekends. And I encourage DH to also try and visit his parents w/o me. Although your Mom does seem to be laying it on a bit thick

I agree. I had a wonderful relationship with my mom. We were very close, but I cannot imagine her acting in such a way.

Re: Repost LIW: How does your family handle..?
I was 37 when I got married so my family was more relieved than anything
I see my Mom almost everyday and I stay with her two nights a week to ease my commute. We are very close. (I lived with her for the 6 years prior to my wedding.) She tends to be more critical and full of advice with me, more so than she was with my sisters, and one of them was married at 18!
