Reproductive Specialists of NY
Has anyone ever heard of the Reproductive Specialists of NY? Dr. San Roman came highly reccomended by my gynocologist and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them.

Re: Reproductive Specialists of NY
There are a few people here who were successful with them...but my opinion is STAY AWAY. They told me it would be no problem for me to get PG and proceeded to do 10 IUI cycles, with no in-depth testing besides bloodwork. Even when I asked for specific tests I had read about on here, they said I didn't need them. I went to a different RE (LI-IVF/Dr. Kenigsberg) and the first thing he did was an HSG which showed my tubes are blocked. I never would have gotten PG with an IUI. Lot's of valuable time and $$$$$ wasted. Plus, the waits at their offices are terrible and you rarely see the same Dr. at each visit. I saw SanRoman twice in the year I was going there and he didn't do one IUI.

Re: Reproductive Specialists of NY
I'm in the middle of an IVF cycle with them and am very happy so far. I am going to the Stony Brook office and there was only one time when I had a long wait (late morning on a Saturday). Yes, you do see different doctors and nurse practitioners, but it hasn't been a problem for me (actually for this IVF cycle I have been mostly with the same NP for monitoring). You'll definately get mixed reviews on here and I was very nervous going in, but I have been very happy. We'll see in a few weeks if I have sucess there...

Re: Reproductive Specialists of NY
My High Risk Ob/Gyn highly recomended Reproductive Specialist of NY Dr. San Roman. I started going to the practice in October. They are open 7 days a week. When I have questions for the Nurses of the NP they actually pick up the phone ( big change from my last office). I do see different doctors each time I go, but I like them all and do not mind.
I just had my first In Vitro in December and I am pregnant.
I think with any doctors office you need to ask questions and be educated.
I think the Mineola office is great.
Hope this helps.. :)

Re: Reproductive Specialists of NY
I have been going there since September and have been very happy there. The waits have never been very long and yes you do see different doctors because they rotate between the three offices so you see the doctor that is there that day. They have two nurse practitioners who are always there and I love them both, they are always very helpful when I am in the office and when I call with a question.
I got an HSG last week and plan on doing IUI this cycle. I told them I wanted to be more agressive this time and they were very open to that.
I go to the Stony Brook office and never have a problem with getting an appointment or with waits in the office. The entire staff there is very nice and always compassionate.
ETA: I agree with the above poster that with any doctor's office you need to be educated and ask questions. I always make sure I know what is going on and ask what the next step will be. I asked for an HSG and they gave me the script. I have talked to people who go to other doctors, and they told me they also had to ask for it.

Exactly. You need to be your own advocate wherever you go and be well informed. You also need to feel comfortable with your doctor regardless of any reviews you might read.

Re: Reproductive Specialists of NY
I have been going there since the end of October. They are typically very punctual. I float between the Stony Brook and Islip office and when I go in for monitoring at 7am...they typically see me at 6:50 and am out of the office by 7:10 ( I work in NYC). Yes, I do see different doctors but its usually either San Roman or Stelling. Everyone has been nice caring and supportive.
P.S. I didnt ask for HSG, they handed me a prescription and told me to go.

Re: Reproductive Specialists of NY
I have been seeing Dr. San Roman at RSONY in the Stony Brook office since Sept. and I've been VERY pleased so far. Dr. San Roman is wonderful, very nice demeanor, very positive, very warm.......my husband and I both like him a lot. EVERYONE is the office has been nice and helpful and caring. I'm usually in and out pretty quick even on Saturdays.....just make your appt. as early as you can becuz it does get busy. I had my first IUI this morning and it all went well and they were GREAT thoughout the process. Now I'm just on the 2WW so we'll see. I would highly recommend them, I've been happy. I read what people said too before I went to see him and what I realized is you have to make your own decision and go with whatever dr. you feel most comfortable with. My experience has been good though, no complaints!! Lots of luck to you!!!

Re: Reproductive Specialists of NY
I am also a patient of the Stony Brook Office currently trying for #2, possibley doing IVF next cycle.....I conceived my son there via IUI in 2005 (Dr.Cain)and was always very happy with them...I have read many mixed reviews about them on this board, but I personally have no complaints although I have nothing to compare them to....I have 2 very good friends who also conceived with them via IVF and theres almost always someone coming out holding a songram pic in their hand when I'm there ....Only waited long 1x and there hours always worked well for me...Hope that helps !!!

Re: Reproductive Specialists of NY
another former patient here. Everyone was very nice for the most part, but the mineola office was run horribly. I never saw the same MD, techs did the sonograms, not the MD, the NP would give you instructions in public. And the wait was always ridiculous. My last visit, I waited over 2 hours for IUI, one hour of that alone in the room. When the MD came in and found me crying she told me I should take a 1/2 day off for IUI's. ITS A TWO MINUTE PROCEDURE!!!!!!! I timed it from the waiting room watching everyone else go in to get one.

My experience exactly....
I found the ONLY people who were happy there were people who got PG rather quickly....I know two people who did ( Mineola) and they both were PG within a few months of starting treatment, so they didnt IMO experience the real horror that place could be when you have to go there day in and day out.
Even my friend who did get PG on her IVF there, actually wasnt too happy at the end, but the result was successful so she tries not to be negative.
I felt like it was a zoo and a mill of sorts, no personal care what so ever for me anyhow.
ETA- I also feel the mineola office seems to have the worst rep , and may be the source of the issues?
Although I did NOT have a good experience with the Dr's. Yes I did see Dr. San roman..once in a blue moon. He was my "dr" and I saw him about 4-5 times in 10 months, they had me going for procedures without proper testing and when I expressed not being able to pay for IVF....The dr told me, take a loan out or work 3 jobs, but thats your only option ( um..NICE lady!)

Re: Reproductive Specialists of NY
I guess every experience is different...I loved it! I never had to wait...I had awesome nurses...I even became friends with one and she came to my house to give my my injections for the most part. I never waited for a call back and Ii got prego on the first ivf. Noone every milked my insurance and all proper tests were done. Now..that being said...I went to mineola for the procedure and thought some of them could have been alittle less bitchy. I live in the same town as one of the doctors as San Roman and its a small town---I am sure that helped me. I can say alot of us in town have gone and if it was all bad I would have heard it because the gossip flies around here. BUT..like I said...It could have been because we all live in the same town. I loved it though!

Re: Reproductive Specialists of NY
I went to the Mineola office for more than a year. For the most part I have no complaints. I did have to wait a handful of times, but that was mostly on Mondays, which is there busiest day. I was successful there on our first IVF.
We will definately be going back when it is time toTTC #2.

just curious if you went in the mornings?
I was usually one of their early appointments( before 7am) and for 10 months I only didnt wait maybe a handful of times. On Sat's or Suns I always waited at least 2 hours, anytime after 7:30 am was a 45 min wait ( to be called in) to an hour or so.
I always scheduled 2 hrs to go for a sono appnt.
When I switched clinics it was 20 minutes for sono/blood and that was with the Dr.

Yup, my appts were always in the mornings, usually between 7:30 and 8. I would usually be walking out within 30-40 minutes. There were a handful of times when I had to wait to speak to the doctor.
