Do you make New Years resolutions?

I always like to try to give a fresh start to the year.

Mine are to exercise more consistently and try to get 5,000 steps a day. Working from home has me missing out on simple walking and it’s taking a toll.

I also want to spend more time on self care - a skin routine and the extra 5 mins to make myself feel/look a little better.

I want to make it a priority to spend more quality time playing with my kids. I feel like I’m always cleaning or doing something else. We only have a few of these imaginative years left.

Financial goals at this point are to just hang on and hope the pandemic gets under control with the vaccine.

I dont usually but I really need to make my health a priority this year. I have fallen back into bad habits and have gained much weight, smoking cigarettes, so really just making my health a priority, including my mental health. And excersise, even if it's just walking a bit...

I think this is a great resolution. Especially the mental health part. Most of us are so concerned with the scale and forget it’s our minds that help make that number go up. Here’s to hoping we all follow suit and get our mind healthy because the rest will follow.

Re: Resolutions

I don't make any because I'm too lazy and weak minded to ever stick with anything for more than 2 weeks.
So it's just a set up for failure

For the past couple of years, my resolution was to have more fun. I feel like all I do is go to work, clean the house, do laundry, etc. So, I made a point to do things. For instance, I bought a Groupon for bowling and we went on Saturday afternoon. Just random stuff like that. Granted, 2020 didn’t allow for much to do, but I’m going to try again in 2021!

i think my resolution is to work on caring less about what others think about me, and just letting things roll off my back more easily!

Financial mindfulness. I am no big spender by any means but the little things add up. Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, lazy fast food, overbuying at clearance sales. Just because something is on super sale doesn’t mean I need it. I returned a bunch of toys I was going to give my kids for Xmas and the kids were none the wiser and were happy with what they got. I don't want to be cavalier with our income, even for things that are a great deal.

No but I will be joining a fitness group ina few weeks so that will keep me in line as I need to weigh in each week. Also doing it for a planned vacation to look decent in a bathing suit.

Well, I usually do a dry January. It sets me up for the whole year.

I plan on getting rid of more in my apartment. I’m quite minimalist so any sort of things don’t interest me. I’m going to go further into that.

And yeah my motto is DNGAF.

Re: Resolutions

i'm working on decluttering my life.

i've been doing a combo of marie kondo and the home edit. so far, i've organized my crafting supplies... which was no joke. i've also thrown away a lot of excess paperwork.

i'm going to slowly attack every room in the house.

i'm also spending a lot more time, money, energy on myself. i've spent almost all of my 47 years caring for someone else. i'm going to make the next 47 about putting myself at the top of my list. in february, june, and october i'll be getting plastic surgery to remove excess skin after my weight loss.

Re: Resolutions

I always like to make resolutions and set goals for the new year, I feel that it's especially important for myself this upcoming year. 2020 was so horrible all around that I felt like I didn't really "live" at all this year. All of the restrictions really limited our normal lives and being quarantined for so long was depressing so I wasted a lot of time being down and sad. I am SO ready for a fresh start, I NEED this year to be different (and better) so I am absolutely making a plan for my life.

I got myself a really neat planner on Amazon, it's part daily/monthly planner but it also includes pages for gratitude, personal growth, forming new habits, etc. There are two good ones if anyone else is interested, the Panda Planner Pro and the Clever Fox Pro. I feel like change and growth is easier and more attainable when you put pen to paper and have a detailed plan for yourself.

In addition to that, for a few years now I have been REALLY into the Danish concept of "Hygge" so that is something I plan to delve more into throughout the year, it really brings me calm and makes me feel more centered. Lastly, I signed up for an online baking course with one of my baking idols, Christina Tosi, so I am really looking forward to that. I think it'll be good to have something to focus on that is just for myself.

I am excited to say goodbye to 2020 and hello to 2021, I have high hopes for it being a better year.

Thanks for posting this! I just ordered one of these planners on Amazon! This year was full of sadness and anxiety and while I know it won't be a light switch come Friday, I am determined to make this a better year for myself and my family, no matter what COVID throws at us this year. Hope you have a much better 2021! Chat Icon

I don't usually make New Year resolutions - it sets me up for failure. However, I did start a #51by51 list a while ago. 51 new things by the time I turn 51 in November. It was a 50 list, but quarantine limited the number of new things I could do. Some on my list are small (trying foods I've never tried before) but some are bigger - travel related hopefully.

Of course the biggest thing I'd like to add to the list is Beat Cancer! But I won't know for a month if that's the case.

yes.
i have had this ritual of clearing out the tupperware-type containers at target on 12/26, every year. i decided not to do that, this year. it felt a little weird on saturday, but now i feel so much better that i didn't spend all that money.

Re: Resolutions

I don't usually, but I'll be joining a Diet Bet with DH and my sister starting Jan 1st.

I did one over quarantine and lost 19 lbs! Chat Icon I also won $340 so it was a win-win. Of course, the bet ended right before Thanksgiving so I backslid a little bit and gained back about 5 lbs over the holidays. I'm joining another one to run from Jan- June so hopefully I can see a big difference by the summer. I KNOW I wouldn't have done so well without the threat of losing money hanging over my head. I basically need a gun to my head to stick something, but it worked!

This is mine as well. From a visitors perspective, I have no clutter (well, a little). But I tend to shove everything away in my closets so it can't be seen so my closets are a disaster! My goad is to clean out every closet and enclosed space.

Also to spend less, and focus on my health.

I really do not make resolutions ever, but in 2021, I need to get myself back. This year has led me to lose so much of who I am. I'm not waiting until Friday though. I woke up yesterday feeling this way, and I'm reclaiming my life now.

Wonderful! I agree -- there's no reason to start on a specific day. Just do it when it works for you!
