restaurant recommendation for a nice dinner - Nassau
We're going out (just the two of us!) to celebrate my DH's birthday this weekend... Looking for a nice restaurant (good food, wine, and atmosphere) in Nassau -- prefer Rockville Centre area or Garden City area, but will consider other places, too.
Will likely be a bit of a splurge.

Novita is a good choice. I love Calagero's in GC. Food is excellent. More of a smaller, quiet restaurant. I would skip Baci... IMO the food quality has gone downhill.

Re: restaurant recommendation for a nice dinner - Nassau
Thanks, everyone. We've been to Waterzooi multiple times, and I'd like to try something different. Last time we stopped in Novita for a drink after dinner and it seemed to be wall to wall college students...
I'm not so much into Baci for a special occasion. I'd like someplace we can make a reservation and take our time. I always have a long wait there and then feel rushed.

I have heard good things about Grillfire in Rockville Centre. They just opened another one in Merrick too and I have been dying to try it.

this is also great.
I got married there and have had dinner there 3 times before and after....it is a nice meal...but the restaurant itself isn't really romantic to me...if that matters.

West End Cafe in Carle place - (you will definitely need ressies though but it is a great place) and waterzooi's are the two places we go the most often in the GC area.
A bit father but I travel from GC area there - Coolfish is very good - in Syosset (off Jericho Tpke).
Calegros is usually pretty good on Franklin ave in GC.
Riverbay is pretty good- east williston - but to avoid a long wait you would need to go early. I'm not sure if they take ressies - but they might for a larger party.

If you like Mexican, Besito in Roslyn is good and romantic...They give you tiny flashlights to read the menu. If you can drive to western Suffolk, Four in Melville is good as well.
