Resume advice
I've read some of the recent posts about resume lying, and the consequences and I have a very important question.
I am in the process of updating my resume and according to the higher ups at my current job, my title will officially change in JUNE. Right now, my title does not reflect the weight of responsibility that I carry.
My question is, do I continue to send my resume out with the current title, or change it to the new title that I should be getting in June? My title right now totally limits me, but I dont trust that I wil get a fair title-which is why I'm looking for another job

Re: Resume advice
Put down your current title, but make sure the bullet points under it reflect all you do.

Will employers take the time to read the bullets? Im afraid they will discard my resume based on my current title.

Re: Resume advice
Definitely current title. It would be lying to list anything else right now. Maybe they will read further, maybe not, but if you list a different one and your company says it isn't true you wouldn't get the job anyway.

Re: Resume advice
Make sure your resume's bullets focus more on your specific accomplishments than on your job description. Quantify any of these if you can (ie., Exceeded sales quota by 5%; Developed relationships with clients, resulting in a x% increase in revenue)
Trust me, if you demonstrate how successful you've been, the title won't matter as much.
